I see. Well, that's one reason I guess. I didn't think that the RRM SRI was that expensive, but I guess we all have different opinions on what expensive is...

yeah, I made a CAI for 65USD and then converted it to short ram for no additional cost. How's that for cost. <- yeah, it's a statement.

As they said I cut the factory tubing from the stock air box & put left over blue rubber thing from my Bonz kit for my old Lancer ES.

no, who said RRM SRI is expensive?, why is it expensive?, i dont think that paying 150+ for a piece of tube 2.5"(diameter) x 5" (long) with a cheap filter is expensive

no no, never

... and it is the same if you cut the airbox...
i dont know but i do think its expensive, extremly...

AT least AEM SRI cost the same 150, but its a compleate intake, you know, it is a compleate replacement, so you dont need to use the crappy factory 90' hose

just my 2 cents

Hardly. New MAFs are $150 shipped, or $183 if you go to the dealer and pay MSRP.

IMO...save up and buy the good/real stuff cause in the long run you could end up spending more money due to problems with the diy/cheap/fake stuff

i still say hack it. $150 for a tiny little pipe and couple with a filter is stupid. the only way you'd have problems is if you mess up, even then i dont see how you could. if your maf screws up hit it with some sensor cleaner and it should be fine.

well think about it this way, if you do end up with a good intake, DIY or not, it opens up more HP, more HP=more gas. if you can barely make payments, mods will not help your situation. also, if god forbid something happens, will you be able to afford the repairs?

if money's tight, but you really want to mod your car somehow, cosmetics is a good place to start, never cheap out on performance/suspension.
