The paint on the 06 evos is also junk! Trust me!

 

Hell no. 2500 miles and my Tarmac Black looks horrible already. A clear bra helps quite a bit. Unfortunately, when I had my protection put on the front the hood kit didn't come in at the same time. I got the bumper covered, but the hood couldn't get done until 1500 miles later. 1500 miles is enough to kill an aluminum Evo hood with the wonderful Mitsu paint on it. Rock's don't just chip my paint, they leave dents in the hood. Fun times, indeed.

Putting a clear bra on a hood after getting rock chips is a lot like putting on a kevlar vest after you've already been shot.

 

true the new evo paint is crap oh the new paint on all the 06s is crap my 06 ra looks like a leoperd with all the chips in my bumper

 

It's not that the "new" paint is crap. Not like they changed the mixture or anything. The paint on my first 1 Gen was the same way.

 

I had Mitsu touch-up paint in White and it never matched.
I now got touch-up paint from the autobody shop that does match.
My biggest complaint about Mitsu's is the paint.
Still like the car though.

 

not true had my ra since dec and my front bumper has been repainted twice and rear bumper once and some spots on my hood the new paint is ****ty

 

how much would you guys say it would cost to get lightning yellow completely repainted with a better quality paintjob?

 

good legit paint job would be in the mid 2k cheap paint job would be 399 i would know since im a painter and damange estimater at a body shop

 

it was 1600 just for my drivers side front and rear door, fender and quarter panel.....

 

i thought you were going a different color you just want to repaint the yellow into a brighter better finish my advice get it color sanded and buffed to remove all that factory orange peel

 

im glad i read this thread cause my paint sucks too, its flat and my front bumper and hood look like theyve been shot multiple times with a shotgun, so i finnaly decided to get a paintjob, im just going to respray the entire car. and nowq im going to get it color sanded and buffed 1st!

that sucks b/c ive had my RA for 2 years and my paint is fine, you could use touch up but that will look like so maybe sand it down a bit and have it sprayed if you want.

 

What's this touch up pen people are talking about? Can I find one at a dealership or something? I've got a few chips here and there.

 

you might as well buy a sharpie the same color the paint pen sucks better off getting the bumper spot repaired
