The bumper is a pain. If yours is anything like mine, not only is the paint chiped, but it puts divets in the plastic. If you're really serious about getting all that out, you'll need to sand it,, possibly a bit of body filler, then repaint it. If you're like me, and don't care quite that much, go nuts with a Mitsu touch-up pen.

What color car do you have. I have Phoenix Red and it chips like crazy. I did what otter did and went nuts with the touch up pen. After a few waxes it blends in okay and you cannot tell unless you get really close.

I used a black chalk and coloured over it, then rubbed it down with a cloth. Done it a few times then, clean, wax...

You can't see it from afar, but yeah - it worked!

u know what i don't get.

I had an 00 type R (black) the bumper would chip over time leaving a white background... White primer I assume.

Then my evo is white, and now I get black chip marks, cuz the primer or bumper is black.

That is gay

If I ever get my bumper repainted, which I only have a few very unnoticeable areas I will get my bumper primed in something other than black..... Maybe something white so if I do get a lil chip you can't really see it.

^ I thought even the factories knew that you use light colored primer on light top coats, and darker on darker...? Dumbasses!

Why is it easier to get paint chips in Lancers than other cars. I've seen older cars with less paint chips than my lancer.

In general, Mitsubishi uses a poor quality single-stage paint (clear mixed in with color). The older cars you've seen probably have a traditional multi-stage paint job, where the clear coat is applied seperately from the color.

Mitsu supposedly improved the paint on the more recent Evos, but I don't know if that trickled down to the rest of the line.

dont use touch up it looks so bad, i work at a body shop and black is the chepest color and if its just the front bumper you wouldnt have to blend any panels (if you had to paint the hood we would also paint the 2 fenders as plend panels)so i dont think it would really cost that mutch for just the front bumper. 1 more thing a black evo paint is not at all the sames as for say a blacksti,i mix black paint all the time and black has 2 grams of red 4 grams yellow ect...
