Good to see that I'm not the only person who dries my car this way.

how is water quality in michigan?, Oh, if you have a black car, don't use that mr clean car wash crap. It left funny streaks all over my truck, but no spots.
I've noticed that when my friend moved from hawaii to seattle, he said that the water is really soft up there so it didn't leave spots like in hawaii.

First: NEVER put tap water in your intercooler spray or winshield washer fluid. I don't even use washer fluid. I only put in DISTILLED bottled water. it's not that expensive. make sure distilled or if you use bottled drinking water, make sure there is very little ppm of mineral i.e. 5 or less. make sure its not mineral water also.
2nd: Make sure you wax your car , actually, i don't always wax. only once a year but every other month I use a product called REJEX. It really works good, and makes the best bead I have ever seen on a car ever. It costs about $18.00 a bottle, You might have to look it up online to find a supplier near you.
3rd: If your car has only a few spots that won't come out, I use MOTHERS REFLECTIONS car polish w/ a buffer, but for small area's, hand polish is better, using this method compounding is not neccessary. Mcguires makes a good one too but the REFLECTIONS polish is really good if you can find it.
4th: if you have heavy spots then you can use a hydrocloric acid based waterspot remover. You can get this at many detailing shops, but avoid the cheap stuff sold at like wal mart etc. I get mine from Auto Chem Supply of Hawaii, and it is their own brand, but I'm sure you can find a detailing supply store near where you live.
5th: You can use a clay bar, but it takes forever, and you will lose patience.
note: If you use the water spot remover, do it where there is no sun, and make sure you have plenty of water to rinse car, lots of clean towels, and patience to do only a small area at a time.
I have had 3 black cars in a row, including the tarmac black evo that I am waiting for to be shipped from california. WE also have really really hard water in hawaii but that is what makes it taste good.
You said it, Brah! I was born and raised in Hawaii (Makaikilo Boy) and I remember getting up in the middle of the night, going into the bathroom, and guzzlin' it with my lips stuck to the sink!! No Ka Oi!

It's pretty bad up here, at least worse then where I last lived (Idaho). I've just gotten in the habit of washing my car at the quarter pressure wash places, they have spot-free rinses that work. Only exception is when I want to polish/wax, then I'm just careful to never let the water dry on the glass and paint.

My interest in those Mr Clean things was brief. As soon as I saw that you have to buy expensive refills, which weren't good for very long, I decided that using a chamois isn't really all that difficult
