what about that statement on the dmv site?

i was planning to do 20% on the rear sides and a tiny 5 inch strip on top of the rear and 4 inch strip on top of windshield by myself...but im afraid that i might mess up, or the film will turn purple or bubble up. Im too cheap to spend $150+ on windows... i'll probably practice with these $10 tint from walmart and then after mastering the technique (after wasting 5 tubes?) i'll go buy some llumar or 3m. That way it will still be cheaper than $100

US TINT LAWS --- http://www.gilafilms.com/PDF%27s/Sta...t%208-9-04.pdf
CANADA TINT LAWS --- http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Consumer_In...vincelaws.html

Here's what different tints mean.

And I suggest getting maybe a clear colored window film. Check my profile in my signature and look at my windows. Its perfectly legal in almost every state.. just check the US tint laws above, and see if you're state has any excluded colors. The chart applies to ALL WINDOWS except the windshield in most cases. Check with your local police dept. like I did. They give me 0 problems.

For costs, check out ALL your automotive window tinting shops in the area. My custom color job ran me about 200 or so for all the windows. The film had to be special ordered since it was a pretty rare color, and non-mirror tint. Oh, and I have a lifetime warranty.

The % represents the amount of light entering the vehicle.

So you have the back windows lighter? I'm new to the tinting thing too maybe i'm just mis-reading it.

NY is 70% front AND rear!? wtf is that? any NYers on here have any input on what a Buffalonian like me should go with for tint percentage cause even 50% sucks and they want 70%? sheesh

Exclamation

Sorry, I got 35% in the front, and 20% in the back + rear... i read it backwards . I hate the fact I can't roll my windows down for 24hours, sucks... I hate A/C, I don't know why, but if I use it for to long it makes my stomach quezzy and I get car sick. Plus, having a black on black RA sucks in this So Cal heat-WAVE!

the back and side windows are tinted 35% and the front window is tinted 50% on my car and it looks amazing with the silver!! I also have a visor strip with is tinted at 5% and I deffiantly recommend getting a visor strip and tint it at 5%. The visor strip helps me out a lot when driving, it keeps the sun blocked and it's never beaming down on me and into my eyes. I don't ever have to wear sunglasses while driving because of my visor strip. I paid $150 for mine.

GOOD CHOICE ON THE COLOR OF YOUR CAR!!

i'm pretty sure that any tint in CA is illegal (especialy dark like mine ) I had mine done for 220. They did a great job but my only complaint is i hear a slight buzzing in my door panel when i crank up the stereo so i had to go back ane tighten evertyhing down. Looks great. oh just dont use windex

20% on all doors and the back , $175 with lifetime warranty. i live down a poorly lit road and tree shaded in some spots and at night it is HARD to see around one of the corners i have to make. i have to roll the damn window down and make sure i dont run over someone walking even in the late afternoon.
