Gauging Interest: CF Trunk Lid
I was just wondering if anyone knows where to get a carbon firber trunk lid for the 2004 lancer es, ls, oz, ralliart. Or how many people would actually buy this and I could contact Carbon By Design or CarbonTrix and they could make them.

The part of the car I like the least is the trunk (because of that damn license plate holder!)... so I'd begin saving money the instant someone came out with a replacement!
But I wouldn't look for a CF part myself though, since my car is red and I wouldn't want a black trunk lid (or any other black body panel) on it. Since the CF part would almost certainly be much more expensive anyway, I'd settle for a trunk lid that's ready for paint (like most body kits).
I think it would be a great add-on for the new RRM body kit... as long as it can be bought separately.

i guess i just like the liscence plate part cause it is more detailed than just the plain 03 trunk. but i have a silver car, dark tinted windows, the black 04 headlights, within the next week or so i should have some black 17s with a polished lip, and im planning on a CF evo hood, so i need a CF trunk to match and fish it off. do you think Carbon By Design would make just one lid for me if i asked? oh well, we'll see.

is awonderfull combination
light and in the color of your car
I would definitely be down for a cf trunk. I don't really mind the license plate holder, sets us 04-05 guys aside from the 02-03 look. don't really matter if someone designs one with or without the license plate holder, as long as it looks good, I would definitely buy one.

Unless you are in the process of building a show car, it's just not worth it IMO. Then again, it's your money, not mine...
Your only hope to get that part at a lower price is if you start a group buy and get at least 10 guys to share the dev. process with you... or better, just wait for one of these company's to make one and sell it.

One of Carbon by Design's rep. said the finish on their product was not really a clearcoat but a kind of resin. I got the feeling that it was a way of getting a polish onto the actual carbon fiber... so it might mean the only difference between a bare CF part and one that is painted is some sanding beforehand. But you might wanna check with them (Carbon by Design) though... since they sell CF and fiberglass (ready for paint) parts.
