Engine Swap Progress Report #2
Two weeks to go, althought that depends if my RRM Catback gets here before Oct 13th!
This week I have bought a lot of things to help us do the job.
Air Compressor and Air Impact Gun
Brake Fluid Bleeder Kit
Lots of assorted bolts!
Black Silicone tubing of varying bores
Oil Catch Can - I didnt want my RRM ported/polished intake looking like the one I took off - coated in thick goo.
I need to find out what size the drive axle nut is? Anyone know? I'll need a socket to fit it.
Either, should be going in Oct 14th, depending on when I get the RRM Catback, and the fuel pump I ordered from mitsubishi-parts.

I have looked around and found some insurers that specialise in modified cars, so maybe they will be ok.
I've found out that my car will move from Group 9 insurance to Group 16 insurance. Evo's are the top at Group 20.
What they want is a special test to be performed by the dealer on the vehicle to make sure its road legal.

Right, had to delay two weeks because the fuel pump wont arrive in time for the 14th - so its definitely happening on the 28th now.
Anyhow - I also want to mention the next phase in my plan, which begins with changing my hubs to 5x114.3 from the 4x114.3 my car came with.
Secondly, we are going to get the 4 Evo 8 Brembo calipers second hand, along with new Evo 8 brake disks, and fabricate brackets at my mates workshop to fit them to the lancer. I'm not yet sure whether the stock brake booster will work with them however, most likely not.
Finally I'll complete that with a set of extremely lightweight rims, Velox PG Rev 10 I believe weight in at 10.5lbs each for 17x7.5. This will all happen before christmas.
Phase 3 will be RRM's turbo. This will happen next year sometime, but not too soon.

Maybe I just have obessive compulsive disorder and my obsession is to modify my lancer in ways no one else has yet! Money yes, - time, well, its taken over a year to get the engine swap prepared!
I'm going to be taking photos of every step during the swap, as I hope it will help people figure out whats needed to do these engine swaps.

Right, this monday 23rd October I will be starting removal of my current 1.6 engine. I will be taking pics and making videos. So I'll create a new topic on Monday night to track the progress. We aim to have the car complete and running by October 29th.
We are right-hand drive for a start - its not legal to own a LHD. Secondly we have a "Grey Import" law, which means that you can only import a car privately if it currently is on sale in the UK. 2.4 Lancer is not on sale, so it is not allowed to be imported privately.
Anyhow the day is here. Engine swap is go - pics tonight.

Thats a little different then here. We can import right-hand drive cars and its stret legal if it passes a smog test. Insurance is easyer too. There was a guy that I would see around town with a right hand drive Nissan Skyline.
