I got a friend to time my 0-60 today, seeing as how in the UK that seems to be the benchmark for showroom cars.

We got 5.9s to 60mph first time, 6.0s the second, with a bit of a traction problem in 1st gear both times. I hear that the 2.4 lancer is 6.9s - 7.3s to 60mph stock, so all the RRM mods knock a second off the 0-60mph.

Now that is impressive - thats 0.6s faster to 60mph that a stock Honda Civic Type R, and only 0.4s slower than the Evolution 8-260.

I'll be clear and say that what im about to tell you isnt street racing or illegal in my country, just driving as anyone would on this particular section of highway; - We have a 50mph zone that turns into a 80mph zone on a long straight, so everyone acclerates hard out of that up to 80mph, and my car has out-accelerated from 50mph to 80mph through that zone change, a 2006 2.5T Subaru WRX estate/sportback, a 2.5 Audi A3 hatcback and a 2.5T Ford Focus ST, although once I'd gotten to 80mph and slowed down the Focus ST kept going... I drive legally so even though I often acclerate hard, most people here do, and I always stop when I get to the speed limit, but in doing that so far I've not felt "pushed" out of the way by a car yet like I had with the 1.6, when faster cars wanted me to get out of the way.

I imagine there's quite a bit of motivation to drive legally there with all those pesky speed cameras.

Yeah, I've never been caught by one or pulled by the police. I just pick my places to have fun when its quiet or in places that everyone will drive quite hard such as large speed limit changes and thats ok.

When I timed the 0-60 of my 1.6 we consistently got just over 10s. So the engine swap has knocked 4s off that, and given me a LOT of overtaking power that was non-existent before!

I had an Evo 6 (common sight here) behind me on the motorway yesterday. We went into a 40mph roadworks zone for a few minutes, then had the massive 40 to 80mph transition.

Obviously all four lanes of traffic put their foot down at that point. I was suprised how well my car kept up with a (probably) 278bhp Evo 6, as the Evo only crept ahead compared to me until 80mph, when I slowed down and he kept going...

I had 5 people in my car too come to think of it...

My favourite little story involve my 1.6 and a guy in a nissan Skyline GT-R.

He felt the need to overtake me at an insane speed on a slip road (exit ramp) and zoom off up the road. I passed him a little later with his bonnet (hood) open with smoke pouring out...
