HIDs in Ebay projectors

Well there has been much controversy over the Ebay halo projector headlights being able to accept HIDs, well i have the Ebay halo projectors with the ccfl halos, H7 low beam, H3 high beam and i just installed 12k HID H7 bulbs, and ballasts, and they work terrific, so although it may say that they are not HID compatiable, they will work fine, here are some pics of my results

......as you can see i used the promax hids from ebay

Oh and Merry Christmas all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would go with McCullochs or Phillips. They are quite reliable.

that's the difference between real projector meant for Hid:

And yours :

it's the "Cut Off" of the light... yours are more prone to blind people coming in the other lane.

But they do look great!

Promax hid conversion kit is a good name and a quality one, though pricey. It is supposed to work well. And the myth that ebay projectors are not hid friendly was never substantiated. It is a strong test for ebay projectors.

It's not that they're not "hid friendly", it's more that they're not design to work with Hid. The Lens of the Halogen projector doesn't work the same way as a True Hid projector. The light is less focus, you'll have a "dirty beam" opposed to a very sharp beam.
You can put HID in almost every headlight (even the stock one if you want) it's just how the light's going to be "cast out” of the headlight that won't be good.

But back on topic, it’s true that your 12k HID generate a beautiful color

Hmmm, this is really interesting. i was tempted to buy these halo projectors...

did you find the stock bulbs less powerful than the original factory head lights?

& was it complicated to "convert" them to work with HID bulbs/ wiring....??

so how long have u had the hids on? the projectors u got are like 150-200 bucks right? i read that hids might melt the housing in them...that was the only thing holding me back from getting it.

Most of the time when there is a problem focusing the beam in a projector, it can be fixed by spacing the lense away or towards the reflector bowl.
Do the ebay projectors allow you to detach the reflector bowl from the assembly with some sort of bolts? If they do, then spacing these correctly with washers would give you the desired cutoff.

Yes i did find that the stock bulbs that came with the halo projectors really sucked, to put it bluntly, i had hella bulbs in before the HID's which were a little better.

As for the cut off beam, although it may not look as good as a projector made for HID's its still looks fine to me, as long as i dont have light reflecting everywhere causing a hazard for me and other drivers, im happy.

Converting them..., it was a breeze, hardest part for me was to decide where to mount the ballasts, the wiring was pretty straight forward, since the kit i got was pretty much universal, u just plug the wires to ballast into where your normal bulbs plug, and then plug the lights into the ballast.

Projectors, they cost me around 215-230 shipped, but i paid a little extra to get the ones with the clear side reflector. With the melting as i cant say 100% for sure they wont melt bc i installed them on christmas day, so i havent had them in long, but there is a required 10 min burn in process after you install the bulbs to ensure maximum life/performance, and i drove around for at least 30-40mins with them on, with no trouble. They in theory should not melt the housing bc HID's actually dont burn as hot as a halogen bulb does, and they also use less energy once started up.

I have never really looked into whether or not you can move the reflector bowl, but some1 else may have tried it.

Ill try to get a better picture of the cutoff beam, instead of on all that crap

^ I think those companies must be talking about watts? HID's run lower temps than halogens.
