depends on what brand Styrofoam he uses, if its the common brand like coffee cups I say no.
just make sure he doesn't use the common fiberglass brand also.

anyone else have any input?

What did the bird say when it flew over K-Mart?

Cheap - Cheap

he gets the styrofoam from a body shop he used to work at. then carves and molds the foam and fiberglass' the foam, sands it paints it and installs it. he says he uses foam because it doesnt warp like metal can and its wont dent lol

sounds to me like the stuff the use to make mockups, from which they make molds, from which they make a full kit out of

not sure how I feel about driving around long term

I would assume that the styrofoam is removed after the fiberglass is molded to it. Fiberglass is strong enough to hold its own.

i think he leaves the styrofoam in there for added padding, kinda like the foam in our bumpers. he drew up some designs that look really nice, i mean it looks like the guy really knows what hes doin. im seeing him friday (picking up an evo wing from him dirt cheap) and ill find out the exact details and let you guys know, i mean if its real good maybe some other lancer owners would want to hit him up

yea i really think he pulls the styrofoam out after the molding. like otter said the fiberglass is able 2 hold up on its own if its formed right. but idk maybe he does it the way ur thinkin but i find it unlikely. when u find out let us kno tho n maybe get some picks of his stuff.

not a good idea, sounds like he wants to use Styrofoam as a filler and mock it up on your car, once it dries it can be sanded down to the shape he wants to attain, after this add fiberglass and filler spread.. But the overall result will be an unstable and easily fragmented finish.. That evo pic you posted is a kaminari evo kit and he didnt make anything on that car.

i talked to him the other day, he said he carves the styrofoam to the shape and mold he wants, fiberglasses that, but instead of removing the styrofoam like most do he leaves it for the extra padding effect. kinda like the styrofoam in our bumpers. i seen a bumper he made for a mustang and it was pretty good quality. ill grab some pics of the cars he worked on and post them.

i was also mistaken on the evo, i thought he said he built the kit but he had actually said that was the last one he put on. he installed and painted it but didnt build it.
