The purpose of plasti dip is so you DON'T have to sand or prime the car. I just did my entire car so I'm not just talking. If your car is that bad you should just sand it & do flat black primer.

Yes it does seem to hold up pretty well in weather and such for some time yes it does get much harder to peel off the car over a long period of time.

Is it better to sand an area before you paint?

I want to use this to paint my whole car because my clear coat is peeling badly. I am wondering if this will protect my car from rust. I am thinking it might be best to sand the car down, then do a layer of primer, sand for good texture, then use a gallon of plastidip that is thinned and use a paint sprayer to put nice even coats.

That's the plan anyways.
Yes, don't do all that just to plasti dip it. If you want to do all this, just paint it!!!! Also, do not sand after you prime, that is dumb.

What if you did a plasti coat on a hood and did regular paint over it, think it would be coloured peel off coat?

I've plasti dipped my entire car so I'd say so. But don't expect it to be smooth to the touch.

just an idea but i think you should clear coat your tail lights if you havent already. i tinted and coated mine and it gives it a less hazy smooth finish. otherwise keep up the good work

2004 Ralliart

I first used the carbon fiber vinyl on my hood but didnt like the results when i finished. So I am plasti dipping instead , the hood is not finished i still need a few coats, i ran out of dip. I did the emblems and badges but im going to go with red plastidip over the black for the emblems. Anyways just wanted to try something different. I went for only the middle of the hood this time and im planning on doing the roof and trunk. Still considering the rims gloss black or flat matte black.

If anyone has any ideas please feel free to suggest anything. thanks.

Slight bump from the dead.

The wheels on my lifted F350 have been Plasti Dipped flat black for two weeks now. They were originally chrome, but I wanted to see how the PlastiDip would hold up before winter came, so that before winter, I could reapply and protect the chrome.

So far so good, as it's holding up better than I expected. And at only $7/can at Home Depot, you really can't go wrong. I only used two cans and that was plenty for multiple coats on my wheels.

What was wrong with the vinyl wrap? It looks pretty good to me.

In 2013, am slowly trying to do vinyl wrap Matte Satin Black by my self..looks better than the Damn Plasti-Dip. You can tell the difference.

Removing the Plasti-Dip is not easy,i need to use thinner to remove it most of the time, before to do the Wrap.

I shopped the nose too.I will paint black the housing of the headlight soon..

I like what you did with the front grille...how'd you do that?

that's an 04-05 bumper too...it looks awesome, cause I never really liked the 04-05 grille, but the 06 lower portion is not as aggressive, you got the best of both worlds, and it looks factory...

and just out of curiosity, what's the hole for?

Thx !! you make my day !

Yes its a 04 lancer bumper...i just cut the center, i had to cut alot, almost all the center of the bumper to the headlights,,and finish it with fiber glass,, to make it more agressive and different than the other lancer...

and the hole is for my cold air intake..
