btw...calipers look great, dude
Yeah, red would look good on a red car. And they don't look great. I left a few spots that need to be repainted. I'm going to have to redo them. But this was good practice. Now I know how to do it for sure I'll just mask the area off this time instead of bleeding the brakes.

No!!! Don't do it! You'll be the first "ketchup/mustard" Ralliart!

J/k man....I'm in the same boat you are, though. I don't think that the standard 'red' caliper paint will match our cars...but I haven't compared the two, so I could be wrong.

I was thinking maybe a high gloss black for mine...that might look really good...let me know what you find out, man.

Would someone help us with the paint already?!? C'mon guys, I'm so damn lost on this one... I went to the store, looked at high temp engine paint and stuff... didn't see any caliper paint (does the stuuf really exist or is this kriptonite all over again!?!)... and what about primer??? Any tips? Should I use some kind of cleaning product... some acid maybe? And does the paint have to be high-temp resistant? I assume it does but...

Now that I've seen this on the car, I've got to have it! Please HELP!!!

i think you can just use any high temp paint. I dont think there is a specific "caliper" paint. You DO have to clean the caliper before painting them or else the paint will come out bumpy. After cleaning the caliper you have to put a couple of coats of primer so when you paint it with the final color it will look solid.

Finally someone with some advice! Thanks man!

So, primer it is... and some cleaning. Do you use anything special for cleaning? I know there has to be no grease left or the paint might flake-off after a while... I suppose that there must be something out there specifically made for that particular use. I'll lgo and do some shopping this week and see what's available...

Thanks again!

How did it turn out for your dad? You wouldn't happen to have pics, would you? Did he use the products package or just the instructions?

it turned out fine, and they look awesome... ill try to dig up some pics, or take some more...what he did was clean the calipers (he left them on the car) with the cleaner provided... be careful you dont get it on anything rubber, the cleaner is bad for rubber... he jacked half the car up, mixed half the paint, and did one side at a time.

what do you mean products package or instructions? like did he follow the book or something?

im pretty sure he just did things his own way

Sorry... I just meant: "Did he only used the web page instructions as a reference or did he order the actual product". I see he used the product...

If you say it does a great job, I might as well order it than take a chance and ruin my calipers. After all, 42.95$US is probably only 2,345.00$CAN (kidding)... Well anyway, what's 100$ to have great looking calipers that I won't have to re-do each year? It's worth a shot...

Thanks again for the info (and please post pics if you ever find one!).

Peace!

In the pictures, it looks like you spray everywhere.. including on the piston and the rubber seal.. I think that's a bad idea because it the seal moves with the piston and paint will make it rigid.. it can cause problems

most of the civic guys they mask away the parts so that only the stuff that shows (ie the outside) is exposed to the paint and primer
