that looks kick *** man. interested to see the dyno numbers that is for sure. good job man.

did you basically put all the parts together from various sources?

Custom made everything besides obvious parts liek wastegate/BOV/turbo

Thanks

shouldnt be too hard to make a circuit to do retard the timing. could be done /w radioshack components, pretty much.

what did you end up doing? 2degress in the lower 1/2 the RPM range, 4 deg up high?

you could actually alter the timing pretty easily by reading the mivec signal through a transistor and using that as ur advance point. reading the RPM signal from the ecu would need a more complicated circuit. the capacitor would have to be kinda big to retard that size signal that long (its a 5v signal, right?). my EE is rusty, but maybe a 200mF? yuk, maybe i should install p-spice and get working on this =)

im sure it is. the circuit would need at least 50 components and lots of planning/simulation. I used to call those 'homework assignments' =)

how does the vvt throw it off? come to think of it, how similar mivec to other VVT engines? like with a vtech, VVTI vanos, etc, you dont have to adjust the timing in many cases. the ECU does it for you. they have enging knocking sensors to determine if all the fuel is burnt before the optimal combustion point. Our ECU (according to the pinout in the sticky) says we have a knocking sensor in our ECU (pin 89). that makes me assume that our ECU is adjusting timing automatically, too. yea, the compression will make the fuel burn faster, but isnt this what the knock sesnor is for? am i missing something? wouldnt be a first =)

timing is adjusted using the greddy emanage u get a 16X16 ignition map basically retard timing by boost point or rpm value or speed like endless opertunities. I plugged a scan tool in to find out what the actual ECU timming is at at a certain point then on the emanage u enter a -1 or + 1 for advance 1 or retard 1 * of timming and u can do down to .5 degress increments. fuel is same way theres a fuel map and a seprate fuel map for in boost, basically it runs liek a factory forced induction car by the end of dyno tunning. still working out some bugs like i need a bigger return line fitting on oil pan, lil simple stuff should be good to go soon tho

THanks
Tory

man the FI forum took off htis wek anyone else notice that !

Doubt he would, just like how RRM doesn't like to show anyone how they control timing
