EGT Temp

Just curious, If any of you are running an EGT in your turbo setup, what temps are you all running under boost? at idle?

On the highway, doing around 120km/h only, My EGT meter reads around 1300 degrees Farenhiet. I think this is somewhat high, but I am using a really small intercooler. At Idle, I think it's around 800, and in boost at speeds over 120km/h, my EGT is 1400 degrees. If anyone knows if these temps are too high, please tell me so I can atleast do something. I am thinking of getting a bigger intercooler.

yea, well, my turbo isn't that great, and my intercooler is really crappy. I have essential speed to thank for that. I'm running only a GT25r @ 9 PSI with full stock internals. I don't even have a turbo back because I have no money left. =(

do you have an electronic boost controller?

if you have a crappy intercooler, i would just turn down the boost until you get it all sorted out.. no sense in making the engine run so hot

no, no EBC, however my intercooler is all but "crappy" Core size is 24x12x3" so.....by no means small, and i am only running 4 psi until all the bugs are worked out, sounds to me like this is just a characteristic of the mitsu engine, it runs hot, after all, its OBD-II.

nobody has brought up whats really important here is temps vary depending on where you mount the temp probe. just a few inches could throw temps off 100 degrees

i've been told 2" from the block, is that what everyone is doing?

You're right, you put the probe 2" on the first header pipe on the drivers side.
