my experience is that the auto's are louder in terms of the BOV. I believe it's due to their different decel rate. Seems they flow more air on the decel than the manuels. Don't get me wrong... the auto still has a massively lean decel just like any other car but there is less engine breaking due to the torque converter setup.

All auto's i've seen with Greddy valves were louder than any manuel with the same setup. It sounds like they are VTA at times.

Mitsu's use MAS's(Mass Air Meters) to measure air going into the engine and adjust fuel accordingly.

When you turbo your car and use the stock ecu still, you must "RECIRC" the air from the BOV(Blow off Valve) back into the intake system as it has already been measured. If you VTA(Vent to Atmosphere), the BOV releases air out to the open instead of recirculating it back into the intake charge.

Of course some get around this by putting the MAS on the pressure side... but that's another story. When you VTA the BOV sound is much louder since it just releases to open air.

Hope this helps,

yeah makes sense now.

This ? may be for ROCK

since RRM gives you a pggyback ECU with their kit do you need to RECIRC still or would you have to move the MAS to get around that?

?b/c im guessing it is better to just VTA?

VTA is better for sound... worse on performance.

Recirculating helps promote spool which helps you get boosting faster due to less volume drop in the piping.

The RRM setup Recirc's... if you want to VTA on their setup get ready for some issues and retuning. My advice is leave it as it is... and don't play the kiddie games of "mine's louder than your's!" It's just not worth it.

Ralliart on LSd know why he did what he did!

As for VTA, performance and drivability always come first.

Was a shame for him to trust that Scion owner or whoever that playing with the wastegate would give him a louder BOV Havent heard 1 bad thing about the RRM Turbo, now time to hear some feedback on the autos! (even though I drive standard)
