Pistons and other internals

For those that have rebuilt the internals on there cars what other parts did you upgrade beside the pistons... did you also replace the rods and decompress the engine as well and what were the results

Also what type of pistons did you use forged or ????

I'm wondering the same thing. I think someone said that 4G63 rods will work on our cars. Is that true?

you have to remember that our throw is longer plus i don't know if the main caps on the connecting rods are the same width as ours. I am engineering my own. I can make my own crank and custom pistons also. I am going to research alittle bit more to see the similarities between our rods and those from a 4g63. Plus our jornal size may be different. Lots of things to consider.

The connecting rods fit, I'm 100% certain on this and it has been done before. I have dug it earlier, and any second gen or later, rods will fit our car.

not anyone anymore, but the first person to turbo the ralliart used them with no problems. Search for TURBO TECH PR and you will find it if you look hard enough.

Sorry I am going to be nasty here but can we keep this very accurate as to what has been done and the results... reason being things get clouded and miss read when we start say "so and so did this to his car but he is not on this forum anymore..." not the useful info I am really chasing. I am after very precise info from people that have done this type of work.

Piston is our geatest weekness. ur rods can handle 15psi I been told. But with all our traction issue to much boost 12 to 15 ain't making it. So I went the piston route from Ross 8.5 to 1 compretion & 1mm bigger or wider.
