[QUOTE=BlackRaven;7264998]Not the same (of course), the sound has to go through the piping/out the filter/etc. There's a turbo'ed TC local to me, he's venting a SSQV to atmosphere, that thing is loud as hell (the high squeely whistle). I have a Synapse Synchronic BOV recirculated, it kinds sounds like the "whiplash" sound of the aliens' tails from Aliens.
QUOTE]

Nice sound comparison. lol

I have never tried using the quote icon. Can anyone help me out on why that didn't work?

My Evo has a CAI on it and I can hear the stock BOV just fine. It's not SRT-4 loud, but still audible.

There is an Evo in my area with a blow off valve that is quite loud. It is modded with a Bushur stroker kit but still. It makes more of an air whooshing sound than the loud whistling srt4 type blow off valves I have heard. Would that be recirculating and not atmospheric?

I don't think going standalone just so you can VTA would be worth the price IMO. I don't understand why everyone is soo hung up on venting the bov. If you want people to know you have a turbo, pop your hood or tell them.

You ricers. Just recirculate, it's better as it doesn't cause rich mixture in between shifts and I can hear mine in between.

If you want a loud BOV, just go buy an SRT4.

I have to agree... Of course in the debate of "it's your car", VTA if you want. I'm sticking to recirculated, loud enough for me.

And to compscib0i:
IF(bov=vta,"Your car'll likely idle and run like crap.",IF(bov=recirculated,"It'll be loud enough, you won't regret it.","If you're not VTA or recirc., wtf are you doing??"))

...*sigh*, I shock myself sometimes with how big a dork I am

I'm going standalone as I want to push higher numbers.. i feel its safer on my car with a SAECU

I just want to have the option. ATM my car will stay recirc.

and I refuse to drive a frickin NEON.

What would give a valid reason for switching to standalone rather than a piggyback or tuning the stock ecu? Just because you go standalone doesn't mean you automatically make more power...

Well, it gives your tuner full control. More reliable.... That's enough for me. The ralliart ecu is a huge pain in the ***.

AEM has a universal EMS model. Just gets very expensive.
ANY car can have a stand alone really. Some are just easier to install than others.

Are you guys just talking about your cars falling on there face and stalling when you push the clutch or come to stop when BOV is vented?

There is pretty simple solution if you want to run your blow off valve vented to atmosphere and not go stand alone. The HKS EIDS is a little box that you wire in and kinda tune to help fix this. Also the Apexi SAFC II and NEO has a setting in it specificlly for this little problem and you can tune your A/F too.
