hey I can understand why you guys can get pissed but he asked what he could do, If that happened to me thats what I would have done. Some people may think that its wrong but i was just being honast, if you think thats fraud then thats fine but I think a multi million dollar corporation should cover a new car under warenty even if it has aftermarket stuff thats minor (ie not forced induction or internal mods), they have insurance that covers it and yes it makes everyones rates higher but we dont live in a perfect world and not everyone plays by the rules, ethics are what you presieve to be right, I would not judge you so I dont think its fair for you to flame me for giving advice.

I called my insurance company to see if there is anything they can do and they said an accident like that is covered.

sorry about what happened man. sorry i dont mean to sound negative, but the same exact thing happened to my buddy. even though they sucked up all the water and let it dry, the motor was shot. he had to get the whole engine replaced. it dosent look good. good luck with everything though. i hope it works out.

You shouldn't crank the engine over, even though you removed water, there a good chance that water is in the crank case as well, i would get it looked at by your dealer......even though this issue is not under warranty

I've actually heard that in some cases if you don't try to crank it over the engine can be saved.

That's true, in fact that is likely. Get the oil changed (WITHOUT trying to start the engine) before you do anything. It takes no time to ruin the crank bearings when watery oil is pumped into them.

It's attitude like yours that make youths justify doing illegal things if it means that they can save their own azz and it's ok to stick it to the "big man" (the multi million dollar company, which by the way, is doing poorly finanicially and you are contributing to it)

Thanks for screwing the rest of us legit owners

10 grand! Holy ****. I would have thought 5 grand would have been plenty expensive. Hell, the 3.4L twin DOHC V6 from GM never costed that much. It's a 3000 dollar engine.

He'd probably be fine with just a shortblock. The head's probably okay.

Warranties are for manufacturering defects. In other words, if THEY f**k up your engine, they'll replace it. With the stock airbox, he would have been able to drive right through the water, unless it came up over his hood. They designed it that way for a reason, I'm sure. Then along comes the consumer, who puts on a pipe that sucks air 6" from the ground, sucks up some water and trashes the engine.

Tell me how that's the car manufacturer's fault.

You carry insurance on your car, don't you? YOU messed up your car, however accidental it was, use YOUR insurance to pay for the repairs.

(No offense, redralli, this is not aimed at you.)

Damn canucks always trying to be the voice of reason..

(Aparently someone has had WAY to much maple syrup today..)

Just playin.

Actually, alot of people dont understand what to do if something like this happens, wether insurance or warranty will cover damages etc. Its good that someone at least points them in the right direction...

I've never been one to go to insurance or warranty for repair work when something was my own fault. I honestly feel that this is one of those "gotta pay to play" things. Not flaming on anyone, but if you add something like a CAI to your car, that ISN'T a minor mod when you do something like drive through a deep puddle. It certainly didn't do minor damage, did it?

If I was to put something minor on my car, like rims that are a bit wider than stock, and then I have wheel bearings fail on me (because of the increased lateral stress) would it be something I would want to take in for warranty work? Nope. Pay to play.
