i woudl agree on the 14 seconds not being considered "fast". stock 1g talons were running 14's and with very little bolt on's and free mods they were runnign 12's all day, and then upgrading and doing more **** there down to 11's and 10's. (i know all my friends have 1g talons and are runnings in the 10's to 12's with under 5k dump into the motors) so yea 14 sec is fast... but thats if its a civic... lol
thanks
thanks
Lancerchick - Your right about the 1G's doing those times w/ that much cash put into them. But the thing your not seeing here is a) the talon's stock came w/ 190hp or 210 for the JDM engines and the big thing is that they are turbo. Any bolt on you do on turbo's are WAY more potent then NA.
So having said that 14.2 for a car that came stock w/ 162hp is VERY VERY good. I believe that the stock 1320 time is 15.9 .... so 1.7 second improvement over stock is amazing w/out using nitrous or f/i.

Stock FWD DSMs could do 14.9-15.2 on average.
Free mods + basic mods for GSX = bouncing 13's
To get into the 11's - A GSX has to pump over 400 crank HP
To get in the high 10's - A GSX has to pump over to crank 500 HP
For the latter two, the tranny starts breaking due to age, driver abuse, and other stuff.
If this wasn't true, look at John Shepherd in the import drag for the past 3 years. He has close or over 50% failure rate, not even passing the second round.
Hell, Lisa Kubo was average racing a civic. When Saturn gave her the nod, she became the "John Force" in her class. So, please don't tell me DSMs are world beaters . . . they haven't won enough to prove anything. This gauntlet is also thrown to the Evo guys who think out of arrogance. Evos would get slaught against her Saturn and in the outlaw class.

I think the RA has seen great accomplishements NA. People that compare it to cars out of their class just do so, i feel, as they see a potential threat. Boost the RA and it kicks as. But then they'd say it wasn't in there class anymore. There's no way to really win.
A Factory 4cyl NA pulling low 14's is great when most Factory 8cyl's NA can't accomplish that. Today's V-8 world is answering back and we're seing some big HP producing domestics. They are still putting up low 14's to mid 13's though. They also tend to cost about 30k not including any mods you do. The 4cylinders provide a lot and their accomplishments are underated by most.
When they pull on them they don't get anything more than a finger or look away later. Poor sportmanship basically. Oh well, for those with the 4 bangers they know what slow is... getting into the 14's gives a taste of fast and is a big accomplishment. When 13's come they get complimented and it just gets better and better the faster you go... but in the end we still live in a domestic world so acceptance will be rare.
