She just changed sponsorship, not car. Now, the APC woman.

PRO FWD RUNNER-UP, KUBO, HEADING IN NEW DIRECTION
World Champion Lisa Kubo to Anchor Saturn Motorsports Race Team
CHINO HILLS, Calif. - Lisa Kubo, the first Pro FWD driver to break into the seven-second range (7.963 at Moroso Motorsports Park, April, 2004), has had a mutual parting with two-year sponsor Saturn Motorsports of San Diego. Kubo, who has been a part of the NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series since it's inception in 2001, was signed be APC Saturn of San Diego at the mid-point of the 2003 NHRA season and transitioned from a Hot Rod Honda Civic to a Pro FWD Ion Quad Coupe , winning the final event of the campaign in Pomona, Calif.
This season, the team, led by her crew chief and husband Gary Kubo, won a career high five races finishing second in the class points race. In the process, she set the category E.T. record at three tracks and finished the season with the top speed in class history.
"We want to thank Saturn Motorsports of San Diego and the director of our motorsports program Jim Epler for giving us the opportunity to showcase our talents and live the life that we have wanted for several years," Kubo said. "Now we have a chance to explore new avenues that could led to future success in the industry and a partnership that will support a winning program." Despite starting the process of finding a new sponsor, the Kubo Racing Team is currently preparing for the 2005 season, which they are hoping will be in a Pro RWD car. "It's been a goal of mine to run a Pro RWD car for the last few years," Kubo said. "The move will test my driving skills and push my abilities to the limit as well as give us a more marketable team in NHRA Sport Compact's most prestigious class."

APC proclamation page. If you though APC flooding the market as is was bad, wait till Kubo wave their banner in victory lane.
BTW: I have nothing against her and understand her financial move, a great spokeswoman for the sport.

Well, GM has been pretty dominate in the FWD class for some time.
Also, kinda funny to see Stephan Papadakis abandon his former motor for a NSX motor.

Hell, Lisa Kubo was average racing a civic. When Saturn gave her the nod, she became the "John Force" in her class. So, please don't tell me DSMs are world beaters . . . they haven't won enough to prove anything. This gauntlet is also thrown to the Evo guys who think out of arrogance. Evos would get slaught against her Saturn and in the outlaw class.

wow, i cant believe how many ppl dont find a all motor RA in the low 14s to be impressive! That will kill most moderatly modded v6 mustangs (lol v6 mustang
), tibs, etc.....and we have 2 less cylindars! this is with no boost. yea, if u boost, u can get 12's easy, but it doesnt tell u anything other than 'the internals can take x amount of boost'. by pushing the car in NA form, u see what really shines and what doesnt. ask anyone who races. its impressive. hell, im still working on 14.999 let alone 14.3 (still working on 15.3, for that matter!)

For the latter two, the tranny starts breaking due to age, driver abuse, and other stuff.
And look at all the people that run 10s and 11s with dsms, Id say they are STREET CLASS world beaters. its always nice to beat on a 800hp Supra! When you go fast, stuff breaks, you'll learn that when you go fast someday too.

This is outlaw class- tube frame, RWD hardly even a car. Nothing like what the dsm or evo guys are running.

14's is fast for NA... there is no denying that. Posting about Forced induction in comparison to an NA application is like comparing a V-8's power to the 4cyl's power without considering the extra 4 cylinders.
I'm currently tracking down a new 04 RA myself. Going the NA route since FI is just to easy.

Hell, one time, the whole chapter bad mouthed a 300ZXT guy. Three fastest GSX's amongst the crew went after him, and all three lost. The closest was about a bumper length behind, and the worse was about the middle of the door.
The best GSX that I had seen was in Gainesville in 00 for the Summit Series (non-pro). A GSX pulled in the high 11's (not 100% sure due to age). When the day warmed up from the low 60's to the mid 70's (so did his time), his car expired, but I wasn't there to see it!

If breaking car parts is a badge of honor, you have a warped sense being a masochist. It's like those 3KGT VR4 guys. How many times for their tranny to break from being heavy and big HP numbers before giving up? More than likely, those 3kGT owners have a lot more income to spare than your average DSM demographics.

Even in the late 90's, how many platoon of civics did you see? How many meager DSM's floated the scene? Hell, if DSMs matched the numbers of the supra clan, it would have been something to see.

Hell, where's Glazer and his Extreme Mirage? In a lighter chassis, he still couldn't get it to work.

Booze it up = pickle your liver
Shoot it up w/ white snow = get railroad tracks on your arms and die
Gambling up a storm = eventually be poor man in the gutter, not everyone is glamous in those tv poker thingy.

to bad we dont post here very much...
here in Puerto Rico we crossed the 13 barrier all motor a long time ago actually yesterday my friend did 13.2... with very few mods... fly wheel, clutch, programable ecu, modified cam triggers, custom made pullys, cai and exaust
on the turbo side we have a guy running the low 12's....
keep up the good work
my two cents

I'm not even worried about speed. Have look look at the gas prices? You can go ahead and match Ferrari or full sized, diesel, turbo trucks in their MPG.

This astounds me to no end about DSM arrogance. Winning is winning whether you're in the class or not.

Again, one man against the whole world . . . he's not even AWD. He was smart and went to RWD.
Hell, where's Glazer and his Extreme Mirage? In a lighter chassis, he still couldn't get it to work.
Why should I be jealous? It's a vice of being human. If you have too many of them, a person will die from them.

1ST~ STOP TALKING ****!!!!!
2ND~ IF You dont own a DSM and you have NO clue what it takes to make one fast then YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BASH.
3RD~ John and Lisa are in 2 TOTALLY different classes therefore comparing the 2 is IGNORANT and senseless.Shep has a AWD Nitroused 1000 HP DSM.He has taken DSM's pretty far into the sport and deserves props for what he has given to the Mitsubishi/DSM communtiy. What Engine do you think the Evo has in it?IT sure as hell isnt a new one.. its a 4G63 which has been proven to make obscene amounts of power. So if you think bashing on DSM's for reliability is gonna make Evo's look any better YOU ARE DEAD WRONG.An Evo when Modded WILL break if not Tuned properly.DSM Timing.. Theres something I bet you know Nothing of.. They have Hydraulic tensioners so when you replace your timing belt on one and you dont get the marks DEAD ON.. your gonna mess your WHOLE motor up.The head will Surely be F*cked beyond repair and if you dont mess a Cylinder up in the process you are lucky. As per Lisa's car... SHe is lighter than Shep and yes she is faster.. I look up to her for being a Female pro Drag racer.. SHe is good undoubtedly. But comparing sheps car to hers is in no way fair.
4TH~THIS THREAD WAS OVER A RALLIART.. IF YOU DONT HAVE INPUT ON THE THREAD ... DONT POST.I hate it when threads get off topic over stupid BS.Props Given to the 14 Sec RA..Atleast someone made it that far here.
5Th~DSM's are picky little B*tches.. If you dont Tune it right it WILL break like ANY other car.Drag racing takes a Major toll on a car.It doesnt matter who you are or what you drive at the track... ITS GONNA BREAK SOMETIME.Even Top Fuel Dragsters Break.. So a Drag car in its own rights is UNRELIABLE.
Lastly.. I didnt mean this to sound harsh.. But I have a DSM.. IT broke because I lent it to a friend ( RIP ) who died a week later.I havent been able to go near it since so I havent tried to fix it.I ordered the parts to fix it ( pistons),But havent fixed it yet. What caused the break is he turned my boost up to 30 Psi on pump gas and scuffed a piston in the # 2 Cylinder.Prior to that the car had a pass at 10.90 @ 122. It took alot to get it there and I had a little bit of help along the way but for the most part... I DID MY OWN WORK and thats what matters.Thats what the thing behind DSMers is.. We dont like it when other people talk **** when MOST people go and get thier car done somewhere at some shop.We do most of our work on our own and that makes it all the more worth it.I am running in Nopi Chic class this year with my RA and am learning that the sport takes a hella lot of money. However, the benefits of it is MY OWN SATISFACTION.I am happy with what it is I am doing and you dont see many Mitsubishi's Drag racing. When YOU go pro and run at the track and do YOUR OWN WORK.. Then you can bash.Sorry but I took it a little personal when you said DSM owners are arrogant.I am far from it and so is Shep.Infact if you hang around the track more often and talk to some pro racers.. you would see that Shep is far from arrogant,Brett Rau is far from arrogant.. and MOST every other import Drag racer is far from arrogant. If you have a DSM then you SHOULD know this.
Again.. MAd props to the Fellow RA that ran 14.2.. Keep up the good work!
Mods.. KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD PLEASE.
