Just change out the differential. A simple adjustment to the final drive ratio would make every gear longer, but slow you down considerably.

still couldn't the EVO MR fit in... or how about the new Mivec's 6-speeds?

i figure the new Eclipse or Galants six speed should be ALMOST a direct swap

depending on if the bolt up to the engine is fairly close

My way is much, much, much cheaper.

The ralliart is sport oriented. How many Ferrari's are engineer'd with fuel economy, hugging trees, and f*ckin squirrels? While we have not a Ferrari by any means, the gearing is sporty. Unless you care to drop $5000 so that you can save $200 is gas over the life of the vehicle, I find it very pointless. People b!tching about gas mileage should have gotten a different car. I get 25 mpg city and 30-31 on the highway. I think that's great mileage.

If that's the case, then mod away. I just think it's stupid when people want gas mileage but their mods cost more than the fuel they'll save.

People like this should buy a tornado fuel saver.

WTF are you talking bout... they need one of those electro-turbo-supercharges.... tornado fuel saver isn't as nearly cost efficient or effective.

but more seriously (not like i wasn't before ) but what do u think about the galant's or eclipses 6-speed (prolly the same one) think it'll work next year?

I thought the shifter for the RA 5-speed is the same as that of the EVO 5-speed; not the tranny. Please correct me if this is wrong.

You would think that the Evo would retain a similar tranny even when it goes 6 sp so I don't see why anyone couldn't ask someone to make a bellhousing adaptor to allow it to fit our cars. That would also go for the Eclipse 6 sp. I would look into the bellhousing adaptors.

your talking about spending several thousand dollers to save a few pennies per doller on gas. You would have to drive the car for the next thirty years to see the savings.

I doubt the tranny for the MR would be too close of a resemblence as it bolts up to the 4G63.

however i think the bellhousings for the 3.8l mivecs 6spd should be very similiar to our 2.4l mivec

The nissan plasentra spec-v has a six speed and still gets the same gas milage as us. a sixth gear won't necessarily get better gas milage.

I haven't looked into this at all yet, but I would be willing to bet that the bellhousing on our tranny unbolts from the actual tranny assembly and I would go so far as to guess that the evo MR probably has a similar tranny to the evo * so you could probably bolt the bellhousing onto the MR tranny and then assuming that I am correct, and the trannies are similar, it should be a pretty easy swap.
