My plans for mods....just called RRM :)

Hey guys!

Just got off the phone with RRM, Ima so pysched!!!!!! I've got this huge grin from ear to ear

Well, performance wise my car is bone stock. I finally decided on the parts I wanted installed... So I called up RRM this aft and ordered the Axleback Exhaust (last one in stock the guy on the phone said) and the Piggyback, can't wait to get those on my car!

Also ordered the AEM 2.75" bypass valve and I'm waiting on 3 different vendors to get back to me on pricing for the Injen CAI.

I'm planning on taking step by step pics of the install of all 4 of these items to make a concisive how-to and contribute to the site

Also going to be painting my calipers yellow and adding in my meshing for the upper and bottom grills. I'll be making how-to's on those items also.

Anyways, just wanted to share my excitement with you guys about getting the intake, exhaust and piggyback. Still not to sure on the downpipe with it throwing the CEL and all, but that can wait.... for now.

I don't see how he would get any CEL, he is not doing anything taht would make it come on. Sounds like you dropping a 1G on your car, you should be very happy!

Does your 05 have the MP3 CD Player?

Please don't laugh... But, I have the AEM SRI and am wondering what exactly the bypass valve is. Does my intake come with it?

I think he means if he buys a downpipe later on... I've done the anti-fouler fix, and my light has been off for like 5,000 miles!!!

I'm guessing that without the downpipe, you're getting:

Injen CAI: +8hp
Magnaflow muffler: +½hp
Piggyback: +8hp (don't forget premium fuel!!!)

Total: 16½hp (maybe add another 8-10hp for the downpipe later)

if you only have the sri you dont need the bypass valve, the bypass valve helps from not letting the water get sucked in. you only have to worry about that if you have the cai. but most of the time you dont need it

No MP3 player. I wish that was an option, but doesn't seem like it is (at least here in Canada where I'm at). I've got the 6 disc cd changer but theres a power problem with it and they're gonna have to take it out and put a new one in. I'd much rather trade the value of the cd changer for some new pedals, gauge cluster and maybe a maintenance plan. Gonna have to see if I can score that with the dealer

You can't forget the 1/2 hp from the muffler... its whats going to make me feel a difference

You were right too, I was concerned about throwing a CEL if I got the downpipe. I've seen the fixes posted, but don't really understand what to do. Something to look into later. Spending enuf money for now

Ya just to expand a little... The INJEN intake gets the cold air from down at the driver side wheel well. This made me a little worried about puddles and all since its sitting so low to the ground. On an intake like RRM's where the filter is still pretty safe in the engine bay I wouldn't have worried, but the INJEN's placement made it seem alot more likely to get water sucked in the engine which = major major engine damage.

In all honesty man, you are gonna have to go through some MAJOR puddles in order to suck anything up into the engine. I had a lowered eclipse with the aem cai on it, it was on my car for 2 years and never had a single problem with water. As far as the downpipe is concerned, be prepared for an obnoxiously loud vehicle after putting it on. I mean REALLY loud. Consider that before buying it.

Ya, I read about the downpipe being super loud... and not a good loud either. I did see some people put on a high-flow cat for the emissions problem part and some people also put on a resonator for the sound?

What I've never understood is if I'm getting an Axleback exhaust from RRM, doesn't that have a resonator already in it? Why would the downpipe create such a loud noise? Is it just from the cat not being in there? If so, doesn't that mean you just need a high flow cat to deal with most of the "raspiness"? Any help would be much appreciated!

And about the bypass valve... I'm the kind of guy that if I didn't have it on, I'd be worried everytime I had to drive in the rain... looking frantically front, left and right for big puddles. For 75 CAD$ I never have to worry about it. I remember last year though, it rained so much a couple days that some streets had like 12-18 inches of water!!

in order to suck water in, the filter has to be actually submerged. splashing here and there does not do anything. i have had cai in my other cars, and most of them were in the wheel well, i never had problems

Well, my buddy came over this weekend and we put on the RRM axleback exhaust. It sounds amazing! So deep and throaty, I was lifting heads when driving by the main drag and already had tons of compliments on the sound of my car. I did feel a slight loss of power in my car, but I figure that might just be because this is the first mod I do. I'm thinking that once I put the CAI on and the engine can breathe better, I'll get that power back and then some.

The install went ok. RRM doesn't send nuts to replace the ones that are welded on with the stock exhaust, so I had to ask my buddy to drive to Canadian Tire so we could pick up the right nuts to fit on the hangers. Other than that, the install went ok and wasn't very difficult.

One thing that really blows, my buddy and I couldn't figure out how to make the exhaust have more clearance with all the parts that we was sent. Now my exhaust is practically touching my bumper and I can tell already that the paint and bumper are melting slowly... have to figure out how to get a bit more clearance.

I also debadged my car a week or two ago, but I added the badges to the interior on my dash. I'm hoping to take pics of my ride this week to show you guys what I've been up to

If anyone's got any tips on my exhaust clearance problem, it would be really appreciated!!
