Thanks for your input!
Like i said, it all depends. For an eclipse 420a motor, the stage 2 cams (the ones everybody went with most of the time) added a very noticeable amount of power. But with cams, comes gas guzzling, rougher idle, and in general, an uncomfortable ride. I would say maybe 20-30 hp, which is a VERY ROUGH ESTIMATE. It depends on how good of condition the engine is in.

20 - 30 hp?! That really is the best mod short of a turbo. How much did the cam gears for the 420a cost BLKRalliArt04?

I got my stage 2's for around 400 and that was for a DOHC, and if anybody was to make a cam for us, plan on it being at least double that price considering how unpopular (lack of a better word) our cars are. I also got valve springs for about 110 and those are a necessity if you get anything past a stage one cam. My cam gears were from AEM.

And possibly this was RRM's next big secret aside from the resistor?

If I knew what it took to get a Camshaft company to begin making one for the RA I would be all about it.

i would ask RPW, as they are the main shop when it comes to mitsu engine components. since they make camshafts and gears for the 4g94 (base lancer) i'm sure you'll see camshafts for you RA guys soon enough

I wonder what high performance CAM is in their shop car?
I bet it would spank our RA's at the track. Those are sick
black rims with the polished lip!

RPW is the absolute best place to get parts for lancers or any mitsu engines. they are based in australia, but if you are looking for engine interals (rods, springs, pistons, etc) they are the guys. they are also the most knowledgable people on the lancer, and I would assume they know alot (if not the most) about the ralliart as well

Question

i was offered from a local tune shop with a great reputation, a chance to make custom cam shaft, gears and some other internals for my car . Don't have the money tho, i pay 700 a month on car insurance . But i think i want it turbo'd first at about 7-10 psi until i get the money for internals.... what do u guys think, will i get good hp gain if i went with internals before the kit?

i'm thinking it's the 1.8 GDI.

But i'm sure they did work on the FTO.. Mivec couldn't have changed THAT much.
