Not A Good Sound

OKAY, i dont like this one bit,
when in first gear everythign is fine, when i floor it, it runs like a rocket,
when i change to 2nd and just let it run and take my leg of the clutch, everything is cool, when i hit the gas again (not floor it this time) about half way, it sounds like my clucth is draggin. "you know when you have ur clutch half way in and you step on the gas, and kinda has that draggin noise.", thats what i'm talking about, it happens in all gears but 1st, Any ideas whats could be the problem, its scarying me,
Please help,
som say its the clutch, some say, not enough fuel and air,
I SAY WHAT THE HELL IT NEVER USED TO DO THAT

any help will be awsome

thanks again guys

have you been abusing the car or the clutch? burn- outs? downshifting?if so there you go....if not maybe the mass airflow sensor is possibly loose, if thats not helping ..... try taking the battery connection off for like 15-20 minutes to let the computer to reset ...if problem persists i'd make an appointment at well good luck hope you get some help if this dosen't help

Sounds like a worn clutch from that description.

how does it feel when you shift? if the clutch is going i think you will tend to notice it more in higher gears first (please correct me if i am wrong)

Well from the experience I had with my otehr car and a bad slipping clutch(soon to be replaced, woohoo) it doesn't matter what gear your in, it just lets go when it gets too much power. Actually it was worse in 1st because that's the torquest gear, aka going from a stop to motion.

But that was just my experience, and really it was drivable as long as i stay below the point of the turbo giving me any boost.

i do alot of down shifting, but doesnt feel like the clutch is going, when in 2nd or higher gear, if i have to step on the gas there is a delay before my needlle catches up

its hard to explain, but if you have ur clutch half in and step on the gas, thats the same sound i get

A slipping clutch is the most logical explanation for what you are describing. First gear usually works best with a worn clutch, because it has the lowest gear ratio, making it easiest to move the car. Once you get up into the higher gears, there's less mechanical advantage, so the clutch slips.

The only other reasonable explanation would be you're spinning one wheel, and it takes a few seconds to grip.

Why not make an appointment at the dealer and let them figure it out?

I Took It To My Dealer Ship When I Drove Through Some Water, They Said "it Might Be Crank Shaft Sensor", They Charged Me $80 Just To Tell Me "they Think" I Really Do Not Want To Go To Th Dealer,
Would The Problem Also Be That Our Cars Call For "v" Rated Tires And I Have "h"rated? Thats What My Rims Came With......

Thanks For The Help

Tires won't do that, the V and the H are just ratins for travelling at high speed(i.e. what speed the tire can handle). Having a lower speed rated tire only means that if you plan to drive over 130 mph that you should have different tires...but how often does that happen in daily driving???

Whatever it is it's probably related to the clutch in some way, and if it's just worn it won't be warranty, but personally I'd go get it checked out soon before it casues some real damage to the car.

i had a civic once that did that

well i dont know how bad u are on ur clutch but that sounds like u crystalized the clutch it does happen much like brakes can do 2nd gear puts less pressure on the clutch so it could slip a bit more when its under power and will make a almost metal to metal sound... but thats just my 2 sence it could bemany things but i think it s time fora new clutch.

The reservoir is the same as your brakes and is located on the drivers side near the strut bar.
