RRM Catback Exhaust?
Well i put in an order for the catback, since they're out of stock right now they should have more made (fresh off the grill heh...) by the end of this weekend, i'll fill you guys in when i get it and i guess i'll write a review on it.

The setup of the catback is very straight forward. 2.25 inch piping in 3 pieces with a resonator and the muffler, held together by clamps. One thing i was confused about is that in the picture on the website, which i'm not assuming isn't the actual part shows bolt together piping using some sort of flange piece, whereas the one i recieved came with clamps and a sort of male female pipe connection style...
The muffler looks amazing, the welds look great and uninstalled, beside the confusion in the photo and the fact that they gave me directions for a lancer 2.0L (same setup basically) I'd say i'm still semi dissapointed in the product, what i was expecting was the item pictured on the web page and well if i knew the catback came with clamps instead of direct flanges i wouldn't have purchased it... I'm also trying to figure out what their return policy is because i probably won't install it...I'll take photos when i get a chance as well...

if you cant return it, will you sell it? and why does this exhaust coming with clamps make you want to return it? NOOB? but i don't know what the difference is other then how it assembles...?
haha, well Rock and i had a pm of conversation going on. And the website portrays a "representative" of what the catback is, not the actual thing. I made the mistake of thinking it was the actual thing and noticed that it was a flange setup similar to the photo below...

However the one i recieved was like this...
(NOTE: this is only an example of the style of clamp, in no way does this photo portray what was recieved, meaning that the clamps were of 200% better quality than these autozone style ones..)

In the picture above.. the pipe has a male piece and a female piece in which it fits inside each other similar to a male/female wiring harness, cept with pipes...
My arguement is that, I know it'll still perform to the same standard, i guess i made this post due to the fact that what was pictured was different, and in my personal opinion the flange style connects are of a much better grade, also it allows you to remove the exhaust when needed, whereas with the clamp system its a bit harder since the metal compresses around the inner piece...
Honestly Road Race did a nice job with the kit, and i'm not going to return it due to shipping costs, so i'm just going to have it modified with flanges by a friend who can weld exhausts. I'm not trying to bash on RoadRace, they make some really nice stuff and i fully respect them, i just didn't expect the product to look like this.

I disagree. A band clamp style exhaust is much easier to install and remove because the damn band clamps will never rust. Furthermore a band clamp system allows some adjustability in the install which makes it better. Also the male to female slip fits will ensure a better seal that will not require a gasket. You can't lose with a slip fit system. It just takes a more competent installer to make the system work as it should. Although if you have never done it a little common sense will pull you through.
