Head swap?
If this can help, we hve taken a couple of RA heads to some Machine Shops to get them ported and the like and the ppl that has worked on both the RA and Evo(VIII at least) says the design is the same, only changes are the single cam configuration and the valvetrain (Mivec and the parts) theyve said that the architecture is THE SAME the only change is, like I said the single cam configuration.
Theyre trying this overhere as we speak but the only person I know thats doing it, is in a tight budget and small schedule, so this is a long way off

Thanks for the positive info! I wonder if we can track down a few good pics of a opened 4g69? I sure there's a million evo build up pics...

But maybe I am just talking out my ****. If it can be done, that's good news. Swap in a IX head, and you get DOHC plus MIVEC.

4g64 head swap

I know the 64 and 63 heads are interchangeable, but what other block head combos are possible in the 4g family? Don't guess, if u don't know don't comment, nay sayers kill the chances of someone trying something new!
A few guys on http://www.club3g.com have taken the 4g64 SOHC that comes stock on our third-gen Eclipses (non-V6, anyway... GS and RS) and swapped the DOHC head from Evos and/or Kia Optimas onto them. I'm currently researching what all is involved, with the hopes of doing the same myself in the near future.
Here's my thread where I'm logging my findings. This should be a good resource for the information hungry.... even from the most basic stage. (where I'm at

...of course this only answers your question about the possibility of a
4g64 swap. Any further would just be speculation on my part.
just because the engine code starts with a 4g doesnt mean the blocks or heads are similar or swappable..
4g64, and 4g63 heads are, but are limited to certain years...iirc
a 4g94 head will nowhere be swappable...
mituse engine families usually lie in the first three letters or characters
ie 4g9x engine heads are theoredically swappable, and the 4g6x ones are also..theoredically

evo guys use 4g64 bottoms for stoker kits all the time... it bolts...
the only thing with the RA is it has mivec...your ECU isnt going to know what to do without it...
plus your also notgoing to get much gain form just a head swap...some of the fastedt drag cars are SOHC...
heres an idea...get or fab a turno kit and get a kick *** tune...and i guarantee you you wil lbe happy...forgte about all this useless head swap shat ...
if $4000 doesnt sound appealing to you... why are you modding?
im curious to know how much you think a head swap is going to cost...
and what a head swap will actually do for you?...
thank you newbie for pointing out that the evo9 also has mivec...?!?
do you think your SOHC ecu will run a DOHC head properly?(hmmm extra money there for stand alone and Tuning...)
and then ill bring it up again...cost vs gain benefit...then let me know....
ill break downa mod list for you and see if $4000 still doesnt appeal to you...ok?
exhaust $500
piggy $450
rims/ tires $1000
pulley $130
header $500
Springs $180
items mentioned are usually the basics that people start with...IF all things were bought new...you would be close to $3000 in parts...without labor yet...no dress ups for the exterior...
but i really dont know why i broke it down to you since you have an extra 150lbs in your car that cost $10,000 right?
i dont understand...please enlighten me

Ok My price list is MUCH different from yours , as I live in Canada, where **** like your price list is almost Unheard of,
Rims and tires$2000CA
exhaust(catback)$300+
piggy$399US (after shipping and other bs probably closer to $650CA if not more)
pulley, well Im not going to bother with this, as I am happy with stock! I would do it MORE for cosmetic as we are not Lucky enough to get an Evo here!!!
And as for the head swap, Im just Inquiring , that doesnt mean im cracking out my pocketbook so calm down!!!
And yes, I have about 250lbs extra goodies in my trunk, and car OVER $10g's now !!! and if you can't figure it out, when im done, its going to be a show toy!!
And $4000 US BEfore shipping and Duty rapes my ***!! JUst doesn't sound appealing!! Thanks for trying to look at it from my angle before you shoot your mouth off!!

^lol....your angle?...what a noob
I dont get why my prices are unheard of? since they are directly off of rrm's site...
with exception of the rims and tires...
I also know that you are inquiring about the head swap, im merely letting you know that when its all said and done, its not gonne be worth it...
again you speak of stuff that you know nothing of....
do you know what an upgraded pulley does?
have you riden in a car with an upgraded pulley?
thre is a reason why pulleys are made, and its not for show...
and i could really care less if your car is going to be a show car or not... im just trying to voice the truth about the head swap ...
a head swap isnt going to earn you anymore points than a turbo kit...
and if you really did your research...you would see that the turbo kit would get you more gains and is more practical on a 4cyl. car....but i wont get into that either...
do what you want...its your car...
its jst amusing that you spent 10000 on radio crap...but cant justify 4-5k on FI?
i cant also guarantee that with the $10,000 you have spent on your radio alone... if i modded an an Ra with 10,000 my $10000 daily driven show toy will still win more trophies than your $10,000 radio

Have I riden in a car wit h a pulley, YES , and To me its completly useless because of all the stuff that I have in my car stereo wise, that in turn little performance and why are you calling me a noob? And how about you put your money where you fingers are? prove me wrong on the trophies!! and to make it fair, 10 g's CA would be better!! As for the forced induction, to me its not worth it!! Im not saying that its NOT worth it to everyone!! Im just saying this because the fact the car is quick enough, why do I want to go any quicker? Get that many more speeding tickets? get harrassed by cops that much more?? No thanks!! And FYI 10g's CA is about 8,641.92 USD
And if you think that you can build a BONE STOCK car up with that much , and make it win more trophy's than I could from a bone stock stand point!! GOOD FOR YOU! Im not saying its impossible, but why can't you look from My angle instead of being a douche bag and make an arguement from nothing? Are you really that Retarded?
