Thinking about engine swap for 04 ralliart?

Any ideas thoughts or advice would be very helpful. I haven't talked to my mechanic yet and I plan on giving him a call later today when I get off work. Also if I do a swap I will most likely be selling my header/downpipe so if anyone is interested let me know now. They are RRM and only about 3 months old

swapping to what motor? that makes a big difference of what you're talking in labor/parts/and if it's even worth it.

i don't know much about those. but i've always said if i ever swapped i'd look into the 3.6L mivec from the new GT eclipse.

Also if I went to a V6 I'd have to get rid of my manifold as well right? I I didn't want to get rid of that are their any 4 cylinder engines that are turbo or put out way more power that I could put in my car?

You need to set yourself a budget and figure out if it's even possible for you to stay within that budget. Swapping engines in Lancers isn't easy like a Honda. Diavlo has spent over $20,000 on his swap, with free (or cheap) labor, and he isn't even done yet.

Also, I don't think it's possible to squeeze a V6 in our engine bay, as our bay is already pretty tight.

Dude, our cars are not Honda's, you just can't say, "gee, I think I'll swap my engine today."! To put it bluntly, WAAAAAAY cheaper to just go turbo or get another car. I mean the only 4cyl turbo option would be the Evo's which you could probably get to work with enough money and time, but by time you got done with the install and making the drivetrain work, you may as well bought an Evo.

Don't forget the nightmare of making the electronics/wiring work.

It has cost me about $20,000 to swap in the 4G69 - which was meant for the car anyway and all parts to do the swap are available to buy. Secondly the 4G69 is such a tight fit nothing bigger will fit in there.

I'm finding many small things are slowing me down now despite being 95% done. These little things will become massive headaches with a motor not meant for the car!

Would this work for my car? I know I would still need the other parts for the complete turbo but this for the header? Anyone know...

IF anyone has a car payment, especially RA owners, don't bother with a swap. It's not cost effective.

First off, has anyone seen how big a 6g72 out of a 3KGT . . . the 4g eclipse's motor is even bigger.

20 grand USD? Euro? or British pound?

Only option is evo, I think the tranny should bolt up since its 4g6X family, but I could be wrong. The most we had done to it is to open the tranny up and swap the RA pinions into built Mirages.

But an Evo Engine, which I know for a fact you wont leave it stock, combined with this WHINY tranny, wont make a good combination. That's unless you send it to Shepperd(sp?)

of course you can make it work. technically with the right manifold, parts, knowledge, and alot of effort any turbo can work with your car.

you might save some money going custom IF you do your own work. if not it'd be more then the kit. and if you do your own work it won't be a weekend job like the pre-made full kits are. so expect the car to be off the road for a while. and i'd guess you'd need to pay someone to setup w/e fuel management system you go with, b/c like most of us, i doubt you can do it yourself. (no offense)
