yea my mechanic told me the same thing about flywheels. You somewhat "Lose" high end tourque, but you cant it back in the low end and mid range. The way he explained it is that when it is light weight, it was easier to spin it from a rest and at low speeds. If its easier to spin, you get a small gain in power. But at higher rpms, when the flywheel is already spinning, you want a heavier one, so it can gain more momentum and spin a little bit faster. If you can gain more momentum at high rpms, you get a little bit more power at high rpms...

now i already have turbo, so i have PLENTY of power at high rpms, I want this flywheel in to gain low end-mid range power, to help make up for my turbo lag and spool up time.

^time for nitrous

^^thanks for explaining the flywheel at low end. all i do is drive around town/city so i really just want low to mid range power gains. looks like when my clutch goes bad ill be replacing the flywheel too. just one more part i plan to buy from RRM

But as it gives some low and midrange power, it has a slight trade off that can be most noticeable during city driving. Since its lighter, it loses momentum a lot easier, which means that the car will stall faster unless you rev it more when going from a stand still.

what???

mitsubishi dealerships wont touch anything if you have a clutchmanster or ACT clutch

my freinds civic had flywheel and clutch, and they laughed at him when he took his car in there for his 2nd gear synchro. They opened the tranny, saw the clutch, called him up and said "this will not be covered, do you want us to continue" he said no. They put the tranny together and he went to my mechanic.

I'll take you up on that. I will be out there in May.

Now that I'm moving back to a place that gets snow I'm thinking I might get the LSD when I do the other stuff. I remember how bad my car sucks I snow when I lived in Utah.
