Taking apart a 4g69

Hey guys. As alot of you may know i have a spare 4g69 sitting in my bedroom with a blown rod and piston. I recently got a PM from somebody from puerto rico who wants to buy a rod, piston, and oil pan from me, and that encouraged me to finally take apart this motor. Here are my plans :

1. Take out the best lookin of the 3 remaining rods/pistons, and the oil pan and sell it to that guy in PR.

2. Take off my valve cover and have it painted and look nice.

3. Take off the head and either port and polish it myself, or send it to RRM if they want to borrow it for a year or whatever (up to you Rob)

Well im doing this with me and a friend of mine, just an hour or so a day while we hang out and drink beer. Just a slow moving project. We have a few questions just wondering if somebody can help me with...

How do you take off the timing belt??? This is the first ? that has rose up, as soon as we get the timing belt off we can keep going and see what stumps us next.

Thanks guys... joe d.

I'm gonna be painted my valve colors. I got two of them (hehe) so im gonna paint one gloss black, with red mitsu and red mivec. And the "indent circles" where the fuel injects and such are, i "think" i might go yellow, if not red.

My 2nd one im gonna paint all yellow, with Red mivec and Red mitsu....

What do you guys think???

I think if I had a spare engine lying around I wouldn't be messing with paint schemes just yet. Of course, my car isn't turbo either

I just want yor guys opinions on what colors you think i should do. REmember i got 2 valve covers so i can go with 2 different combonations. What do you guys think???

anmd i still need help taking this timing belt off. any tips would be appriciated.

The timing belt should be pretty self explanatory, but it will be very involved too. Do you have the service manual? That would be something I would buy if I had a spare engine lying around. You can guarantee I would have that sucker so taken apart....

that's about how much I figured it was. It really should come with the motor.

When you remove the upper/lower timing belt covers it should be pretty easy to figure out how to remove the belt. Removing it = easy. Reinstalling it is the tedious part.

If you're going to be parting out the whole engine there's some things I may be interested in. I'll leave you a PM.
