transmision...

Hello there,
I am new here but i watch this forum for around two months now.
So here is my problem... I bought 04 Ralliart 4 months ago. I have some problem with "synchronization?" lol... all the time when i want to put 1st gear while car is rolling i cant (don't say im going too fast because even when i am going 10mph i cant..). i mean i can but i have to stop the car almost completely. I wasn't yet at any shop or anything because first i wanna get some knowledge... I don't know if i put it in a way you can understand me... i am sorry English is not my first language...
if anything i will try to explain it more clearly... thanks!

It's likely normal. First gear isn't easy to get into unless the car is near stopped, and you really shouldn't need to get into first gear unless going from a stop.

i know i should use 1st gear only when i am at a stop but its annoying that sometimes even when i am at a stop and try to put 1st gear on i cant put it and sometimes i have that sound when u miss a gear/depress the clutch and try to put a gear (that weird sound) lol :/
and i forget to tell u guys that i have the same problem sometimes when i try to put 5th gear while on a high speed... I have no idea what is going on...

How many miles are on your car? You could be due for a new throwout bearing or new clutch? 5th is a little tough to get into quickly... there is a little more pressure on 5th than other gears for some reason. It is normal.

But yah, sounds like your 1st is normal. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're grinding trying to put it in when you are at a stop. I usually lug mine a bit in 2nd to avoid going to 1st because it's so torquey.

Its normal, I have a new clutch, fluid, bearing etc... I have some problems throwing into first at a roll just creeping out of my driveway. I normally just jump to 2nd. I don't mind rolling in first, just not worth the effort to fight it to get in.

unless I am at a stop the car pulls fine in 2nd. also, it starts out in second pretty easily. rev match if you want to shift into first while moving... like buttah

synchros could be wearing, change your fluid like GDS said. go with something decent.

don't start a thread about which tranny fluid either there are already a few that will answer ALL of your questions. even if it doesn't, bump the one that is closest with your questions.

Yea gotta make sure to rev match when you're going into first or you'll experience the most unpleasant jolt...

dbl clutching really helps

Lol... now dan has to warn on various topics... gotta admit... the 40 different transmission fluid threads was getting a little ridiculous.

i fail to see a problem here, most cars wont let you go into 1st, even at 10mph... i kinda start to slow down and hold it at first until the trans takes it.
