No gear oil used in our car. As far as trans fluid, people generally use/recommend BG synchroshift, Redline MT90, GM Synchromesh, and Amsoil.

2.3 quarts, IIRC. I know it's more than two and less than three, in any case. Buy three and you'll have a little left over.

^Yeah, basically, just have the car sit level and keep filling until you can't fill anymore.

I just ordered Redline MT 90 for my car. I run it in my BMW and it is amazing stuff. Takes a little longer to warm up in winter but shifts are great.

Shouldn't take "Longer" if it is the proper fluid.

It is a combination of Superior BaseStocks and Additives...

Most Gear Lubes, do not even meet the Specs printed on the bottle and will not pass the required tests for Gear Lubes.

There is no Governing Body to insure that Gear Lubes meet Specs...

Although I am familiar with Silkolene by name, and I know they have a decent name in MotorCycle Racing just as Motul and AMSOIL do, I do not have any technical data other than what they post on their site, which is minimal. MSDS may be of help in determining how good it is... I did notice that their "Pour Points" are not too good on some of their oils which could be an indicator of how good their base stocks are.

Looking at what they do post, it appears to be in the same class as Motul being mostly Ester based, so I would have to presume that it is a decent oil.

Ester Based Oils have their drawbacks, just like with any product, and those are why AMSOIL and other True Synthetic Oils have gone to a PAO w/Esters.

AMSOIL uses a mostly PAO base with Esters as, Esters are Superior cleaners and also "Polarize" the oil so it clings to metal parts.
