ive been having some slight grind issues with second gear but they never occured before i changed my trans fuild...before i changed it i was having a slight 3rd grind soo i went with some penzoil synchromesh and it got rid of the 3rd but i now have a 2nd gear grind...i was told that it might be too thin soo i picked up some royal purple 75-90 today and im going to put it in tomarow....Doc what do you think?
Just informed by a member that Mits wants $120.00 for the the new Spec'd Tranny fluid with the "GL-3" Rating....
He was wise enough to already know that GL-3 is an Obsolete rating and is superceded by GL-4 for the trannies and GL-5 for diffs...
OEM's are known to do things like that to keep you coming back because you cannot find a certain Spec'd product so they lure you back to buy from them.
This is no difference than Hyundai Spec'ing SG oil for their cars.... It is a rating from about 1994 and has been superceded... Only thing that an SG/SH oil is good for is a flat tappet cam...
Or like Motorcycle OEM's that recommend a 20W-40.... The 20 part is measured at 0 Degrees Celsius.... I ride.. That is dang cold on a bike... and besides that, a 10W-40, 5W or a 0W will work... they are still 40 weights at operating temp...
These are ploys to keep the unknowing consumer coming back to them to pay through the nose....
How much through the nose ? In this case, 3 qts of the proper AMSOIL fluid will be $33.10 plus taxes...

I will let the test reports speak for themselves.... It is up to you after that if you still want to use RP... I know I wouldn't....
