well if the eclipse ECU can be used ont he RA we can use the AEM FI/C without any problem...

but our cars are OBD II and the eclipse is CAN BUS, if some body can bring more info about the difference between CAN BUS and OBD II and possibilities to convert from OBD II to CAN BUS

assuming the wireing harness was the same the ecu canbuss or obd2 im not sure would matter jsut aslong as the engine sensors are all the same to the T the ECU is ment for running the engine so if it were all the same i think it would run the car no problem other than maby the load differences but if the 4g ecu is sensitive like the RA's i would say it might be rough

I already check and the harness is not the same one, but i think that the engine sensor are the same

Yes, in theory you could use it but in practise it would require swapping out many electrical bits, including the cluster. Not worth the cost/expense.

Have a look at the price of a complete harness, plus the dash units, cluster and anything else that talks to the CAN bus, for example the anti-theft. After you spend a grand in parts you should have about 30-40h of work removing the dash and adapting the thing to work. Even so you're not 100% guaranteed it will work.

The alternative - $500 or so for a reflash.

$500 for each reflash

i think that is possible convert from OBD II to CANBUS without spend a grand

down here in Puerto Rico a lot of people convert their cars from OBDI to OBDII and they dont spend a grant

how convenient is that sentence for you..... that smell $$$$$ for u

bottom end... for me the reflash may work but is too expensive for a person who is trying new setups and looking for the maximum in their , and the tune that you put in the ECU will not work good everywhere cause the weather and location

Before you criticise please educate yourself as to what CAN is. One of the expensive parts of a vehicle is the wiring harness. It takes the OEM a long time to construct, test and install these harnesses. CAN is a system designed to replace a lot of wiring by sending signals around to different devices.

It's like running one wire to a bunch of things and by sending high speed digital signals it can make everything work. The old way would be to run a wire from the tach to the coil, the speedometer signal from the transmission (via ECU), a wire to the coolant sensor etc etc etc. The new way is that the computer tells the cluster, "hey tach, show 4000 RPM, hey speedo, show 60mph, hey coolant gauge show 1/2 way up." All sent through the same wires.

How do you propose to make all these systems interface just by switching some wires around? What is $500 anyway? 6-8h of labour? The book probably pays 6h to re&re your dash!

I said "I THINK"

anyway $500 each time I need to tune my car, plus send the ECU is no good...

Thing is your talking about prices for something that is not proven, not even done and will not be reliable from most people who buy since you will probably have a preset tune for sale. Maybe you should talk about ripping people off $500 after a RA actually has been reflashed

^Ouch dude, comments like that are not needed. We have very limited support in the aftermarket so if someone wants to build a product for this model let them. So many companies sell flashes for roughly that price an no one complains so why is this community complaning when there maybe a new product for us?

Ok so here is the deal CANBus is how the system communicates. Its like Centrino the ECU still utilizes the ODB II port. CAN Bus is the way it talks. The ECU once it fires up talks to many processors that all process individul things. Its like having a network of multiple computers in the car. Now even if the RA was CANBus which I don't know if it is or not. No it is not possible it is not even possible for us to switch ECU's between Eclipse's. Mitsubishi keyed em. Every CANBus processor and the ECU are all imprinted with the Same key. If you switch the ECU and the key doesn't verify or match with everything else the Car will not work. If you want a new ECU it has to be flashed by Mitsu in order to operate with your particular Eclipse. Hope this answer's your question I guess the short answer would be NO. However the new ECUFlash program from openecu.org supports the H8 processor and CANBus. So even if your vehicles aren't CAN I would almost bet money they have H8 processor which is what was uncrackable.
