Exremely Low Idle
Problem fixed. I installed the aem bypass valve.
Wow so, I started my car this morning with no problem and I got to school fine. My car has had no problems with idle or in general, ever (besides battery). I have 53k on it as well. I parked my car and sat idle for about 5 min and the car started to shake and rpms dropped reeeally really low and my RA died. I tried to start it up and it did the same thing. I waited 10 min, and it did the same thing.
So I took it to the dealership, and they said they ran diagnostics and found code P0102 and said my air filter for my AEM CIA was water soaked - that was the problem. Granted, it has been raining for the past week here in Arlington TX.!
My question is, what should I do? The car runs perfect now, but it's going to rain again haha! In fact, its supposed to rain for the next 2 days! I have had my RA for a little over a year now and never had this problem, should I change the air filter or get a blow dryer and dry off the existing one? Help Fast Please!

i tried to take off the air filter, but it's a pain in the *** bc the way it is angled, so I jacked my car up, and i put a stanley power fan directly beneath the air filter.

i'm going to leave this set-up for about 30-45 min and hopefully the air filter will be completely rid of any water. In the meantime, i will begin my search for a hydroshield or shop around for an injen cia, i have heard better things about injen as well. What size hydroshield (s,m,l) would fit the air filter i have on right now (2.75x5)?

the hydro sheild looks like a good product. but i dont have bad rain, its the roads here. i just got stationed in NM and this place dosnt have a road drainage system, so what these cheap f***s did was made the roads all "V" shaped and when it rains its a river for a day and a half. so do you think this will help with that? was just gonna get the injen CAI and the the short ram conversion till im outta this place. what you guys think? oh and sorry for the post jacking

the hydroshield covers the whole filter, so it should work unless the filter is somewhat submerged in the water... which shouldn't happen in the roads are flooded.
i had problems with both rain and water and roads... not i have the shield and it works fine, no more misfires for me.
a more expensive alternative would be the bypass valve that AEM has i believe? i think it would fit the injen CAI since piping should be same size.

back valve? do you mean the bypass valve? anyway i think the bypass valve would be a definite necessity if you are dealing with a lot of rain/flooding condition as a precaution just to save your engine in accidents like these. but to be extra safe i'd get the hydroshield just in case and have the bypass as a backup... can never be too safe or else you risk rebuilding an engine

I'm bringing this thread back to life, as it has been pouring for two days strait here. After researching for a similar product to the Hydro Shield by Injen, I found the AEM Filter Wrap! I'm about to order this right now!
I'm also going to order the bypass valve, but it just seems like a pain in the *** bc I have to mod the piping to make it fit! Check it out here
I should have got on this a couple months ago, but something needs to be done now for sure.
