RRM piggyback problem?
RRM piggyback problem?
i bought the new piggyback from rrm a week ago and when i hooked it up the car ran bad.....supprise right haha. The car studdered from 2k rpm all the way up to top, but car ran fine once unpluged. i checked all the connections 100 times and concluded the only thing else is the piggy itself. i sent it back for a new one but if the problem persists what should i do next? thanks
did you unplug the battery and such? once the install is done you're supposed to let the car idle for a bit and then do some light driving so the ecu can relearn everything as soulessswarrior said. just curious on whether or not you did that
yes i followed the instructions perfectly. I did the light driving and everything. I even re-did the instalation 3 times to make sure i haddent forgotten anything that would cause this. I live in ohio and when i did the installation n such it was about 60 degrees out...not too cold or hot. I have the CD but have no way to tune it cause i aint got a wideband nor a shop nearby. The piggy its self is supposed to increase power and torque throughout the entire rpm range correct? And if i wanted to could i save rrm's map onto my computer, use a different map, then go back to rrm's later if i wanted?
you COULD save the rrm map on the computer and run a different one BUT i woudln't suggest it without the use of a wideband to help with the tuning of the car cause you dont want to screw up your engine
The timing values for the car are significantly different when the engine temp is not at full operating temp. In some places it runs an extra 10 degrees of advance with coolant temps around freezing. You may need to let your car warm up fully before driving it anywhere.

haha yeah i dont wanna mess nuttin up.....well the new one(or retested one) is on its way so ill keep u guys updated on how it goes....preformance gains n such thanks for all the input so far!
RRM is the best when it comes to fixing any problems there may be. If the piggy acts the same upon reinstall i would highly suggest a wideband and getting it properly tuned for your climate.
Put the wideband on and datalog what it's doing. Post that up and I'm sure a few people can give you some pointers. I prefer the Innovate widebands because logworks will let you log everything.

I found mine (before the reflash and turbo) would be fine for a few months then it would loose power. I had to keep uploading the map that Hackish did for me. All was fine but I have to keep reloading the map everyh so often. To be fair I also had the Haltech Mini and it did the same thing but it did hold the tune longer that the Split Second on both are good products if you are ok weith reloading the tune...
I have been driving my buddies NA 04 RA with the reflash.....works well....sorry if it sounds like i am a pimp for Hackish but I have seen his work in person and I am living proof that the reflash works and works WELL.....he has done a GREAT job with this
