Get clutch masters stage 1 with flywheel! Stay away from ACT. Their Pressure plate just grinds and wears the clutch more.. And chattering is tob. Sometimes when i cant bear the noise i just press/pump on my clutch while in neutral and it tends to go away..

No I am not the original owner. I am owner 3. Both prior owners were older, in 30's so I dont think it would have been abused. This morning it seemed to shift into gear fine. I went ahead and bought new trans fluid and will put that in after I change out the clutch so to answer the question no I have not changed the fluid yet. Probably will need it with 131xxx miles on the car. No telling if its ever been done before or if the clutch has ever been changed. Thanks for the input guys, its much appreciated.

Then again, what qualifies as abuse ?

Bust that clutch! Only dudes who can't get girls have friction material left after 10k miles.

For us old guys, frying your clutch is optional, but if that's what all the cool kids are doing I'm gonna go out and give mine nightmares.

ha. ha. ha. Ok first owner was mid 30s lady who sold it soon cause of it being manual and the last guy was 37-38 drove it highway cause he traveled for a living. Not saying that older people wouldnt abuse a car but these 2 seem very unlikely. My bad, I thought older people drove the toyota prius. lol just kidding. thanks for the laughs

it might just be fluid as somebody already mentioned, but if it were the clutch, there's a few things you can do to verify, i think they were mentioned already...if you're the one driving it hard...don't be ashamed, i abuse the **** out of my car...it just means i'm costing myself money, but i understand that, and i know how to fix it when the time comes...

just weighting in this is what i thought a year ago, same with all your guys comments with the synchros. but instead it turned out to me my selector was rounded and in the cooler weather last summer just got worse and worse so hopefully next week my rebuild will be complete and installed

also on other note anyone think 18 Nm is light for pressure plate bolts i could torque them with one finger, anyone against red loctite these or should they be fine since 18 and no loctite was what mitsu calls for??

torque depends alot on the fasteners, and the pressure plate bolts are small (M8x16mm)

I had this problem about 20000 miles back or so on my 06 ralliart. I ended up replacing the clutch with a clutmaster stage 2 because of Kevlar pads. I also replaced the flywheel with the fidanza one. This noise started to happen on and off again about 5000 miles ago. I would say it's just issues with the TOB mentioned earlier.

Thats the basic setup I'm planning on getting. How is is for city/daily driving?
