Anyone use the eBay intake as a short ram?

Just wondering if anyone has used one of the eBay CAIs as a short ram. The reason I ask is because my car is an A/T, so the CAI won't work, but I'm sure it will work as a short ram.

If anyone has any experience with it though, I'd rather hear about it first before I spend the $$$

Thanks.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, it wouldn't hurt, I mean the most obvious difference is the temp in surrounding source of air , the SRI source of air obviously is hotter then that of a CAI, which of course explains the better performance results from a CAI as opposed to a SRI, as cars generally run better with colder air coming into the engine.

So in short, it should work like any SRI, just don't get the same expected gains as opposed to a CAI. Just make sure that the upper one piece has the opening for the MAF sensor

As far as ebay item... the piping shouldn't be a matter, for me personally I don't trust the filters, but to each his own.

should work because the injen CAI you can just use the short section of it as an SRI for autos
as long as it has a space for the MAF and it will fit in the space left behind when you take out your stock airbox, should be fine

which is one of the reasons I'm trying to see if anybody has done this so far, so I'll know if there are any issues with it.

starting to think I'm just going to go with a K&N drop in and be done with it. cheaper, and I won't bottom end torque (which I crave!)

I would email them. Most of the ebay intakes are 3in tubing which will make your MAF throw a CEL. Stock diameter is 2.5in. I believe the Injen and Fujita are 2.75 and some people get CELs and others don't.

I'd try the drop in then first see how you like it...
