Today I went out to compare the two 4g69 engines since my stock one in my Ralliart gave out on me. But I noticed that the new engine that came has an alluminum oil pan instead of the stock cast iron one. The block is also black over the Ralliart cast iron silver so I don't know whether or not if it is oem black or enginesandtransmissions.com took the extra time to paint it lol. Wednesday I will be having it put in from a mechanic and he was telling me that he needs to swap my Ralliart one with the oil pan on the new engine. Can anyone narrow down which 4g69 for Mitsubishi's came with an alluminum oil pan and if I will be able to keep it on there without any problems?

Take some pics, the upper oil pan is aluminum on Outlanders.

TBH i thought they were all the same...if it fits, and is the same size/shape i don't see why it wouldn't work.
i've never seen an outlander 2.4L engine

Thanks for the quick response. I am trying to get pics sent to my phone to download now. Side by side they look identical other than the oil pan on the new engine is alluminum and looked to be not as wide as the Ralliart's. The block is also coated black. So far I can only come up with the Outlander's having an alluminum oil pan. I am running OBX headers so with a slightly different composition, I'm wondering if I am going to run into any problems as far as clearence or the install.

Well the outlanders came in both 4G64 and 4G69 2.4L engines so thats something you may want to look into.

4g69 w/28,000 Miles!-4g69-mivec.jpg That's pretty much what it looks like with the different oil pan but with mine having a black engine block

Now I am confused. So this guy on the above thread has the same engine I just received but I don't know if his is from a Ralliart or if my original engine from a 2004 differs between years because he has the same oil pan and black engine block

I found an exact replica of my engine that a guy has on this forum. Here's the link. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...ss-thread.html

Definitely different oilpan.

It looks like the block may be black, I never looked closely.

Thanks! The block on the left looks black in the pictures but I can't really tell what the oil pan looks like on it. I just don't want this guy to be swapping a perfectly good oil pan out that came with the engine with my old blown engine.

And something else to consider is if it's from the outlander the camshaft has a different profile, based on when delta camshafts did measurements on the ralliart and the outlander cam. So it would drive differently, maybe just in mivec though.

I wouldn't say either or ,but it was more focused on torque for pulling power being it's a 4wd suv type and NOT so much for get up and go ....

Alright, finally have a pic of the real thing. Anything that is obvious that can be narrowed down to which vehicle it came from?
