Releasing clutch lightly to shift? Weird

Hey guys, well sometimes when I shift into first or reverse, it won't go into place, but if I start letting go of the clutch while pushing the shifter in at normal force, it'll slide in Gear perfectly. Any ideas why?

Assuming this only happens when you're at a dead standstill, this is easy. The teeth on your gears will most of the time mesh no problem, but once in a while will go peak-to-peak instead of peak-to-valley. Lightly releasing the clutch starts moving one of the gears, so they break this deadlock, and then mesh like normal.

that's normal if it only happens once in a while....if it's all the time, you might need to change your fluid...
