Transmission Ralliart 2004

Ok, i need a new tranny.. Or to rebuild the one i have... I think i am just going to get a new one, due to the fact i could put it in myself, unlike rebuilding.. My main shaft bearing is going bad/is bad... and 1st synco is out to

Question is, what tranny will fit my car? Will the 07 eclipse fit?

THANKS in advance!

Transmission noise...

Ok, i've gotten no replies yet on my other post about what tranny will fit a 2004 Ralliart...(Which is fine, it's only been 24hours) BUT i have another question regarding a noise from the tranny.. I have looked ALL OVER the internet for this, and have not found a straight forward answer... somethings are similar to the things i have but others are not at all... Soooo

WHILE STOPPED.
The transmission makes a "grinding" type of noise, if i push the clutch in, it goes away. Release it, it comes back.

WHILE MOVING.
If i'm in gear moving, i get a whining/grinding type of noise, and if i push the clutch in, while the car is moving, i get a "ching chang" type of noise. (almost like wheel of fortune but with a occasion clunk, and this is also when the noise is most noticeable )... If i put it in neutral while moving the noise goes away again...

What could this be??

Please help?!

Also if this helps, today i got home from work and found transmission fluid under the car... So it is leaking from somewhere.. I haven't been able to look yet, but tomorrow first thing when i wake up I'm going to find where it is coming from.

It's kinda funny that you answered your question from this morning with the thread you made yesterday and any 4g69 trans will fit to your 4g69 motor.

Also please refrain from making 2 threads when you can easily just add to the one you already made.

This is the profile of the last owner of your car , in case you didn't already have it. You can look through his threads/posts to maybe get more info overall.

are you sure it's transmission fluid? cause it looks the same as engine oil, only the weight and viscosity are different...see if you can see exactly where the oil is coming from...and the noise you described is definately a shot throw out bearing...i'm pretty sure exactly what you described has been covered and resolve in several other threads...

It is 100% Tranny oil not engine oil... And it is coming from the bottom of where the tranny bolts onto the engine, it will flow out for the first few minutes after car is shut off, but a lot at a time.. About half qt at a time, and also today notuced a slip in the tranny wheni was lightly on it.... Does this seem like TOB? I have looked around on internet and on here.. I want to KNOW if it's TOB or ISB... Becuasei have a spare tob that i can throw in it, but i don't want to have to pull it apart twice if not needed... Its my daily so it's gotta run.

Also if it helps transmission fluid only comes out when engine is turned off, from a start.. While driving and while running no leak, but as soon as its turned off, comes pouring out.

how do you know it's transmission oil though...you can't tell by look or smell, unless you used coloured oils...

in any case, there should not be any type of oil coming from the location described, it means either the crankshaft seal behind the flywheel has failed, or the input shaft seal has failed, or you have a cracked transmission case...be sure to check that it's not coming from the differential case...

a bad TOB won't cause any oil leaks...why it only leaks when it does, is beyond me, but the tranny only holds 2.3qt, so if you're dumping a half qt at a time, that bad, and i really want to stress the importance of being absolutely sure what kind of oil it, is, cause if you're losing that much engine oil at a time, you could be looking at internal engine failure if you continue to drive it...

It is definitely Trans oil because 1. I just changed my engine oil, and its still pretty clear 2. I've watched it pour out the tranny 3. It has the reddish tint to it

But I'm think maybe the isb went which cause failure of one of the oil seals? This weekend I'm going to be taking the tranny out to look, so I'll keep yas updated.. But car is parked until it gets fixed

ok. just making sure...

not sure about mitsu gear oil, but every manual trans GL4 gear oil i've used has looked exactly like engine oil...

do you have thew service manual? there's a few tricks to splitting the transmission..

hey man! me and you are having almost the same problem with the "noisy" trans. cranswick and i flushed and changed my trans oil w/amsoil GL4 fluid, adjusted the clutch pedal, bled the clutch slave, and we also made sure that everything is tightened up properly (not too tight, not too loose).

i've been driving my car for a couple of days since we worked on it and it feels a lot better than before. the clutch is more responsive and my shifts are a lot smoother. i still get the 2nd gear grind and my 3rd is grinding a bit now too (same as your 3rd gear grind/crunch, garrett!). i am saving up for a trans rebuild and garrett suggested that we diagnose the problem first and see exactly which parts are needed for the rebuild. we wouldn't want to get stuck while the trans is split apart cuz of a missing part that we need

i think you should do what we did and try to see if that improves your situation.

let me know what you think.

THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP GARRETT!!!

sure any trans for a 4g69 will bolt up to another 4g69 but I highly doubt a eclipse or outlander trans is the same, not only the shape and mounts but the gears

2k for a rebuild... Really not trying to pay that much for it, and thats only a 300$ labor.

Guys said 3 gear is pitted on the inside, the diff. is busted, the input shaft bearing was bad(Which i knew). I don't understand why it is so much for the rebuild tho? I took the tranny out, and bought it in.
