take out the two bolts inside the clutch housing, remove the reverse light switch, and the speedometer sensor, remove the control housing retaining bolt and the control housing and shift controls, then take off the little square black plate off by the back side of the input shaft, and remove the reverse idler gear, that is one of the bolts above the oil fill plug, it is a torx or hex, i forget the size, i think it's something dumb like 16mm, i forget the torx size...anyway once the reverse idler gear is out, theres about a 1-7/8" round black plastic cap on the end of the output shaft., punch a screw driver through that and pry it off, or you can try to remove it gently...under it is a large snap ring, you need a fair sized inside snap ring plier, and open the snap ring, it retains the outermost output shaft bearing, if you're stand the transmission up so that cap is facing up, you'll hear the output shaft drop under its own weight. now you can go ahead and remove the rest of the bolts that hold the transmssion case ot the clutch housing. now with the transmission stand up on the clutch housing you should be able to pull the transmission case off. I just did this like a couple of days ago, so it fresh in my mind, i hope i didn't forget anything...

its really easy took me about 5 hours first time to remove it and get into the I/O shafts and diff easiest way is to go through the manual a few times and take it carefully undo all bolts and clips u can and it comes apart fairly easily well mine did at least but the car i dont think has ever been winter driven.

on my first removal, one of the mouting bolts that go into the block snapped, it didn't cause any issues taking the tranny out, but it was quite an undertaking, to remove the broken piece and repair the threads...
