I spun a rod bearing !! :(

Well, about 600 miles ago my i changed a bearing in rods becouse of failure in 4 cyl and i just dropped a new bearings in it and i messure the clearance and the where prefect on all rods. Today i spun a rod in 4 cyl and my crank and rod is f***ed. The main bearings and rod bearings cyl 1-2-3 are perfectly fine, why does this happen ? What could have cause this?

its a Stock crank and Eagle rods.

Thanks
Daniel.

More than likely the crank has some scoring or is not perfectly round. This will eventually "catch" the bearing and spin it in it's place. Especially after heating up and expanding a little. Remember, your bottom end tolerances need to be in perfect order, even more so with a high horsepower car.

Perhaps you have something clogging the oil passage??????? I dunno but very strange that you can damage two rod bearings in such short notice on the exact same rod.

Could be oil contamination. What caused number 4 to fail in the first place? You always replace the oil cooler and purge all the lines when something like that happens.

I think it was to rich. But the bearings now are alot worse than the last time...

Is it very bad for me to go oversize on rod bearings 0.10 ?

i would just replace the crankshaft, instead of cutting it to go oversized..it sounds like maybe lack of oil why it failed in the 1st place......

At this point you need to really tear into this and find out what has caused this, otherwise your looking at another failure in the future.

You can not cut it, once you spin a bearing that crank is shot. You can go to a machine shop and check the hardness of the crank but most likely it'll be done. I have not even seen oversized bearings for these cars

I think your right, just replace the crank i think thats my next plan, but the car has never had lack of oil

did you plastigage the clearances when you put the new bearings in? my guess is the second bearing spun because something wasn't cleaned or replaced and bearing debris from the old one got into the new bearing.

if it was my car I'd also change the oil pump and check
the balance shaft bearings.
And once you spin a rod bearing the crackshaft is done.
