Resonance after timing belt replace

Hey guys, my 04 Ralliart hit 60k recently so I got the timing belt replaced along with the usual stuff. Since then, I have a resonance in the engine at 3500rpm. Above and below that, it's smooth, but right around 3500rpm it gets slightly rougher and louder. Any ideas? It's kind of a pain since that's right at like 75mph in 5th gear where I want to be cruising.

MiVEC JUST KICKED IN YO! But on a serious note, it might just be that your motor is running like new and you're not used to it.

Your balance shaft might be out of position.

I know MIVEC kicks in right around there. But it didn't used to do that. My dad drove the car for the first 2 years of its life, so I don't know exactly what it felt like when new.

But basically, it doesn't feel super rough or loud, until you compare it to other rpms. If you're cruising at 75mph at 3500rpm then slow down till 3000, or speed up till 4000, the engine gets quieter and smoother.

should always be smooth...who did the timing belt? it could be the rear balance shaft, if it was the front shaft there would be quite a bit of vibration...

It wasn't a Mitsu dealer. They wanted like 800 bucks or something. Don't remember specifically. Had it done at Christian Bros.

you'll want to pull the upper and lower timing covers and verify the timing marks, and balance shaft positions...

This reminds me of my thread located here:

Vibration at High RPM (even in nuetral)

The first post has the video of the resonance my car was making. Post #26 here is what I showed them so they can fix it and it went away after that.

I hope that helps if it's similar to what you're experiencing.

Just curious, why did you do the timing belt at 60k? They bad after that time normally? What was the other normal stuff you did? The questions might sound dumb, total newb here so trying to learn what I can.

Just what the manual recommended. There's quite a list of stuff to do, check, and replace at 60K.
