Clutch line replacement.

Made my own clutch line to replace the entire front part of the clutch line and the modulator softener clutch engagement thing. Made it yesterday and going to paint it first with some high temp paint, clean the brake/clutch master cylinder, install it and replace entire fluid in brake system at once. Since my car has 150k miles and the fluid was looking nasty as all get out I figured it was about time. If anyone is interested I'll let ya'll know of different it feels sometime this week. I'll probably make some more if anyone is interested in testing them out for me as well once I know It works well for myself. Line isn't completely straight so i'm working on figuring out a way to straighten it better. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aron

Yeah I read that awhile back. OK , so I installed it last night and between driving it last night and today I have put over 500 miles on it already and it has no leaks, haven't had to re-tighten anything and everything is right where it needs to be. I have noticed that the clutch does engage sooner and a litter more firm on the grab. Over all It seems to be really good. Anyone have any interest in me making one and trying it out for me let me know.

Thanks,
Aaron

Hmm, that looks very tidy. I'm willing to try it out if you can make one for me but then the problem is I'm all the way here in Toronto, Ontario, CANADA (where the cool RA owners are at lol). If we can work something out then that would be perfect. But I am really interested in taking on this mod. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Oh and I forgot to mention--OFF TOPIC--that I will be ordering a new CSC as I am pretty sure that mine needs to be replaced as I checked the boot that surrounds the piston and it has some kind of black fluid within it. I really hope to get my baby overhauled before she slaps me on the back of my head and drops dead. I NEED TO DO SOME MINOR/MAJOR MAINTENANCE ASAP!

Just some random thoughts and rambling...

Yeah, this seems interesting for sure especially after what he said about the tighter grab and different feel. Can't wait to try it out. I'm sure he has done his research as he wouldn't do something to hurt is beloved "SOHC BEAST"

lol, funny. And yes, too me its seems to be a little bit more of a bite, and not really seem to have to press the clutch in as much before it starts to grab. I checked shipping rates from where I live in the Dallas/fort worth area to toronto canada, shipping alone was about $18.00.

in essence it's doing the SS braided line...
xept this one's solid..where the SS flexes...
it shouldn't make a difference between the 2...xept dependign on engine movement this COULD be an issue since the CMC is still on the firewall and the CSC is on the trans where it moves back and forth(even tho it's not much) eventually it MAY snap on you

the SS braided line is just a regular rubber hose but with some SS braid around it to allow for extra pressure and support so it doesn't expand under pressure as well as longer life...

either way good job...
i thought of doing this before but was too lazy....and now i don't have my RA to do it...

No chance on the line ever breaking. if you look on the photo on the right i never put the line bracket that hold the connection from the factory steel line to the rubber line, so it allows for plenty of movement, but even if i did mount the bracket back on to hold the two together (in the pic to the right you can see the hole in the trans where it is supposed to mount to) it would still be fine, the whole thing would move together, just like the factory one did, and if that one could have lasted 150k miles then im sure this one will be ok. thanks for the concern though, over a thousand miles and still not a single leak or or sign of fatigue or basically anything out of the norm.

Are you saying your vehicle came with a solid steel line from the factory? If so then technically so did mine, only it has the inline modulator and I simply made my own line to exclude that piece. Just clarify that if you don't mind cause I'm kind of lost. Thanks.

like i said it MAY break in the long run...but it could also last the life of the car...

but from what i see in the picture you just replaced the lower section, leaving the upper rubber hose section attached, so it does have flex still...you didin't replace it all the way from the CMC, so it'll have flex wether it's in the bracket or not

as for the solid line thing like YOU said...
it IS solid from the factory(well...about half of it)...BUT it has the modulator...
and dont forget IIRC there's that section which is rubber and then has a wire wrapped around it..(basically makning a cheaper SS line...but no quite the same)..
so if you want true solid line/SS braided line performance you'd need to replace that as well
