06 ralliart timing timing/valve problem
I have an 06 ralliart 2.4 and i wanted to check my timing belt,so i removed the top timing cover, and i put a wrench on the cam and rotated the belt around to inspect it,seemed fine,so i put the cover back on and started the car,now it sounds like the valves are tapping and its running rough,i didnt move the car, just shut it off and left it.i dont understand what happened,i didnt even remove the belt?any ideas?
never rotate the engine from the cam...EVER. also what direction did you turn it? and another one, remove spark plugs for effortless hand cranking...
what you need to do now, is pull the lower timing cover and verify it's timed...

well now that i think about it more, the cam gear is keyed, so it shouldn't really have changed anything timing wise, and if tension is correct, it shouldn't jump...but if it runs rough and ticks like a bastard, you should double check.
