Weird noise after engine rebuild

long story short had to get my engine rebuilt due to a broken timing belt. since I got the car back from the engine shop at low speeds it makes like humming noise when you left off the gas. you can feel it the humming noise through the shifter too which is odd.

I took it back to the shop after the break in period for them to inspect the work and check torque on the valve's everything checked out to spec.

anyone else have this weird noise? and no its not wheel bearings those were just replaced beginning of the year.

If its a vibration and it still has balance shafts, it could be the oil pump timed 360 degrees out.

Is it auto or manual? If you throw it in neutral does it do it?

It is a manual. You can feel the noise on the shifter from 1-2 when you let off the gas. Like droning noise. it doesn't go away with neutral depressed.

Which is strange since the engine was never fully taken out. Just the top end and oil pan.

I don't know what neutral depressed is, are you talking about the clutch pedal? And you say it only occurs in the neutral position, but only between 1st and 2nd, and not while in those gears, or any other gear. You can hear it but only feel it in the shifter? It's hard to imagine what it could be based on your description. Are you sure it's not simply happening at a specific rpm? If that's the case then case closed, it's your timing.
