Clutch: Valve between master and slave???
05 Lancer Ralliart 2.4
Clutch wouldn't disengage properly (very hard shifting in and out of gears) so I took it into my shop. Apparently some sort of valve between the Master and Slave cylinders was rusted out and leaking. I, nor my Mechanic, have seen such a valve on any other car. Even the Parts guy at Mitsubishi couldn't tell us what exactly its purpose was. As this is a $225+ tax Part, I was wondering if anyone here knew of its specific use, and if its entirely important. My Mechanic said he can fabricate a new line without the valve and it would most likely solve my clutch problem and be a hell of a lot cheaper.
- What is the name of the Valve?
- What is the Valves purpose?
- Is it really important?
- can I do without it?
Thanks so much for any and all help on this Issue!

So my mechanic fabricated a new hydrolic line and removed this valve. Car shifts like normal again. Still have no Idea what its for or why its worth $225+tax.

I could be wrong, but that looks like the clutch restriction pill used to slow down the movement of fluid to the slave cylinder so that people don't launch their cars too hard and ruin their transmissions. A lot of us remove it because it doesn't help when your racing. Does the car feel any different? Letting go of the clutch should feel more abrupt now.

To be honest I don't drive like a race car driver. Only like an amateur Criminal lol. I don't notice a difference with it removed at all. But what you said makes sense for where it was located. Thanks for shedding some light on this confusing situation.
