S&S, side airbags

I just found out today that my RA had side airbags (the SRS tag on the seats)
I was wondering what everyone else had.

None of the above, opted out of both.

I think the side airbags are going to be standard on the 05's

I have the S&S, but I don't think I have the airbags. The seats have the tag on 'em, but I can't find where the airbags would deploy from.

If it has the SRS tag on the side of the seats, it has the side airbags. I assume the airbags just burst out of the seat. If you push on the side of the seat, you can feel something hard in the bolster, i'm guessing this is the airbag.

Ya it fires out the side of the chair and then it inflates along the door to the steering wheel.

I have side air bags without the sun and sound package. 4 bags is better than 2 right?

FYI all, side air bags are standard on 2005+ models. I have the sun, sound, and side air bags package on my 2004.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like they just dropped the plain sun & sound package for 2005 (so you either don't have side air bags or sun & sound, or you have it all).

offtopic (slightly): The Lancer was rated as only 2 stars by the NHTSA for side driver impact crash testing. However, there was no side airbag. So maybe with the side airbag standard in the Ralliart, the results will be different?

I did some research on how side airbags affect side impacts before buying this car. IIRC, I couldn't find any actual tests of a Lancer with side airbags. However, all or almost all cars that I did find tested with and without side airbags scored much better with them. While that doesn't mean the same holds true for Lancers, chances are it does. Either way it was enough to convince me that getting side airbags was a requirement and not an option.

Shame on Mitsubishi for not making them standard, but at least they're an option.

I think because evo's have recaro's and the airbags are actually in the seat.

just looked at the updated Mitsubishi Canada site.
It seems the side airbags and the S&S package can only come as one package now?!

That bumps up the Ralliart to a price of $24,790 CDN!!
I only want the side airbags... wonder if its possible to get it with just side airbags.
