i just got a injen cold air-intake, but i just put the short ram in. it's loud when it hits 3500 rpm's. i paid $225 for the intake; i dont know why some places wanted like 240,245, 250 and 255 the most. does anybody know if the short ram is louder than the cold-air, i'm going to put the cold air pipe tomorrow.
i had short ram part on for about 2 weeks installed the cold air part and noticed it sounded the same only a lil slightly louder, like u know that sucking sound that you get at around 3500? its a tiny bit more pronounced i thought, maybe becuase its in the little box u kinda have to make infront of the wheel well

Well when I looked at the instructions it said to remove the bumper
. I was kinda scared to remove the bumper at first. So I did just put in the SRI part also didn't have a heat shield so I was kinda worried about heat soak. Then I decided to put the second piping in for the CAI part. What I did was looked at the instructions to remove the EVO bumper and simple enough I had no trouble doing it by myself

Now I had a pretty crappy razor to cut the plastic and I had quite the struggle.. lol but after doing that the next battle was feed the pipe through with the battery still there because the battery didn't want to be removed. But I finally got it through and put the bumper back on. Turned on the car and at first felt the same as the SRI as for low end stuff.. But.... when I opened up the car on the highway when it was about 5500+ rpm it had crazy awesome sound. You know right after that second sucking sound at the higher band yeah just after that it just ROARS. its awesome!

Removing the bumper is unnecessary. I was able to install the CAI just by removing the splash guards, cutting the necessary hole, and sliding it in. Things are a little cramped with the bumper still on, but it's quite possible.

im going to go with a SRI, CAI are nice... but ive always been a SRI type of guy. Plus its louder and the gains are minimal for CAI. They booth have there pluses and minuses, so just go with the easier setup, lol.
ok,i just tookout the splash guard to put the cold air pipe ,and you are right it sounds really cool at 4000 to redline. for some reason my car backed-fired on me when i down shifted; does the ralliart run 87 octane, why did my car backfire? did my cold air intake leanout the fuel has this happen to anybody?
I don't think you'll see a huge difference in horsies with the cold air versus the short ram, but the idea is that the cold air can pack denser air in and doesn't end up taking the hot air from our engines (and it gets pretty damned hot in there). Packing in warm air in never a good idea...althought there's argument for changing to a short ram for the winter if it gets really cold where you are...but i don't think it'll make a huge difference on your engine in the long run.
I just ordered the Injen CAI and it should be delivered Monday. I'm kinda bummed though to find out now that I have to possibly remove the bumper. Being lowered it sounds like at minimum I'll have to take off the tire and the splash guard. I guess I was expecting an easy install. Oh well, pays off in the long run right?
