I put an Ichabon Anodized Red Aluminum shift ball in mine. It goes good with the interior, and looks very similar to the 'rivit patern' that Mitsibuishi put on the ring at the base of the shift glove, so it looks almost stock. I will U/L a picture tomorrow after I get a digital photo of it. Also have anodized red aluminum shift pedals from the same MFG. Nice, but almost to big for the limited pedal space on the RA. I sold the original shift ball from the car on eBay for 46.00!!! hahaha.
Here is the pix I promised (not a very good photo, sorry). Yes, I know, the Ichabon symbol is upside down... I wish they would have just furnished it with pre-threaded sleeves instead of the stock ones with set screws, but the ball has a GREAT feel once installed, and blends with the interior.
I wish I could have used the trick-looking imbossed base ring, but the bushing holding the shift boot up does not 'move down' which is required when installing the ball.
Suggestion: Don't use the furnished allen wrench to install Ichabon accessories. They are crap. Great accessories, cheap tools.
